most average game out there. Great on the surface, but play more than 20 hours and you'll see how shallow the quality is. The combat looks nice but is wildly inconsistent. (try to) Complete the achievements and you will see what I mean.
I guess there are some redeeming features about this game, but after just having played Arkham Asylum this turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Asylum had small levels, they were very good to read, you always knew what to do.
Here you have a huge city, but everything looks the same, it's hard to know where to go next. The map doesn't really help that much. This isn't really an open world sandbox, so this doesn't work in the game's favour. Asylum did it's locations much better.
Another huge critizism I have to add to the save system. In Asylum it also had only autosaves, but they were fair. Here you enter a building, see a cut scene, have a huge brawl, watch another cut scene, and then the game doesn't save. It saves about five minutes later or when you do something that the game seems save-worthy. No, using an upgrade point isn't it. I had to find out the hard way. After a long fight, after seeing the cutscenes and upgrading my armour I quit and went to work. When I came back I had to do everything over again. That's not fun. From this point on my eyes were only glued to the savesymbol, when can I quit the game and when am I forced to continue.
This game could have been great. Like Asylum. But sadly they screwed it up. But I'm alone with my opinion I guess. The ratings are over the top.
But you are warned, this game has lots of frustration potential. If that's your cup of tea, go ahead. There is fun to be had here if you are that person.
Beware, it has the compelling save system of consoles, and sometimes the game brings you in an unwanted mission, or you find one bad, and you can't evade all this.
