Trust in Larian

Take a look at all games that have been released over the last 3 years. Every game (and I do mean EVERY GAME) gets released in a mess and is built up with patches. When it comes to the reviews I have read, it seems like most people are in denial about where we are in gaming. Some are in the camp that BG III needs to be just like BG 1 & 2 to be relevant. (If you want more BG1 & 2 go play BG 1 & 2) Others believe a full amazing game should be the only thing released. (Yes I agree with this but we have to be realistic in 2021. Early Access is the norm in 2022) A couple complain about the females not being hot? Lol I mean Female "Hotness" is subjective, but I am sure they will eventually add customization to change the appearance of your party members. Anyway determining if a game will make it to the finish line in Early Access is sort of like running a background check for a candidate for an employment position. You get references and work history, which Larian has a STELLAR reputation. While the EA's and the Activision are busy ramming a 12 incher up their customers back end, Larian was putting out amazing games in the Divinity series. I do think they deserve our trust, that they are going to complete a great game. Trust is everything in gaming, and you only have it once with one mistake destroying it forever. Larian has gone 25 years without breaking their audiences trust. That says a lot to me. I say give it a purchase once you have some extra money, and just keep it on standby. I have no doubt it will be worth the wait!

First CRPG I actually finished.

While basically all the negative reviews make valid points, overall I still give the game 5 stars. It is the first actual CRPG I've finished (not including action RPGs and first person shooter style RPGs). Yes, it was very buggy in Act 3 at launch, but patch 2 which is already out fixes most of the big problems and seriously improves performance. Yes, it is absolutely obsessed with sex, with every character, seeming to want to have sex with you all the time. The famous bear scene isn't even the weirdest of the lot. And yes, the characters are very much the modern whiny, weak kind, rather than traditional heroes and villains. And yes despite ALL those valid criticisms, I still hate it 5 stars. The story (I played a Dark Urge Bard, going full evil route), is awesome, and your decisions do make huge differences. There's one NPC that I've heard is the most popular in the game, that I just killed within minutes of meeting them in Act 1, and ended their massive storyline without even realising it was a big deal. There are whole massive areas you can skip entirely, or explore for awesome story bits and fights. In fact one of my favourite scenes in the game, I suspect most people would miss entirely if they were following a good route. And while the NPCs are quite a sorry bunch, they still do have really quite cool stories that made me keep some alive, just to follow their story, despite planning on killing them all as part of my evil route. The visuals, music and voice acting are all outstanding, the whole atmosphere of the game is excellent. I think now that patch 2 is out, it is definitely a good time to start playing.

boring slaughter

maybe there is depth and maybe there is a story, but huge amount of boring slow combat destroys whole experience. so called randomness actually change interesting world to save and load waste of time.

Wonderfull translastion

This is exactly what it says on the tin, dnd 5e the video game. The combat is challangeing and fun and the skill checks are more than just a instant win button, there is almost always an alternitive way to deal with problems than what is the most obvious. If this game keeps on this same track it verry well could be one of the greatist CRPGS of our time

The best version of CRPG yet

It is rich in content wich huge replayability and a good balance between a videogame and a TTRPG. With countless hours in IRL TTRPG experience and hundreds of hours in games like Divinity OS 1/2 and Solasta This is the best way to enjoy this genre to this day.
