I played it for several hours for two days, so my opinion was that it is a fun game, but it does not resemble the old original game, and I noticed a problem with the camera rising to the top away from the game characters, and the story is not very good, but it is somewhat acceptable and it lacks side missions and very few places on the map
So much to do, so much to see!
I'm not a fan of DnD mechanics, because they are limited and you can't go nuts with the skills, but BG3 still managed to entertain me 10/10.
Way better than first two Baldur's Gate games. Those are like bad dream compared to the third part (Even though I played them several times and I'm way over 40 years old myself).
Also Baldur's Gate 3 runs super smooth! Everyone who has problems with performance probably renewed their graphics drivers 5 years ago last time.
Game is great. Might update later with more detailed impressions, but all in all its a great time. good production value. Some bugs, but with such a big release its forgivable imo.
Just - get it on Steam. GoG screwed up the updates. Many people get stuck downloading at 92% or around that and if you manually download you get the older version not the latest patch, which means you cant play with your friends who are on a recent patch, esp. your Steam friends. And if you try to click on "update" in Galaxy it just gets stuck, or worse, tries to redownload the entire 109 GB again. It had me waste an entire 2 evenings now.
Crash after crash after crash after...
I've finished my first playthrough without any problems, having played around 200+ hours on that first bard character and went to my second playthrough nearly at the same time, having reached the beginning of act 3 at the end of November.
Now I've tried to play the game again, but since updating several times during December, I honestly can't. My game crashes every 5-10 minutes and nothing the internet had to offer worked for me.
My PC is freshly upgraded as well, but it seems like a
- Ryzen 9 7950X3D
- Radeon RX 7900 XTX
- 32 GB memory
+ a 2 TB SSD on a MPG B650 CARBON WIFI DDR5 are not enough to run this game.
My 11 years old previous system with a rusty R9 280X didn't even crash a single time while playing BG3 on the lowest settings. I don't get why this keeps happening on a modern 2.3k € machine now...
So yeah, I decided to not touch the game for the next few months. Hope Larian can fix whatever causes these crashes that plague some of us players in the meantime. I honestly wanted to give them a 5/5, but I can't look at this game rn. I loved this game for months. This is so frustrating.
especially for an Early Access game.
Similar interface and mechanics as Divinity: Original Sin2, but with the D&D 5e ruleset driving the world. Fun and unxpected story (so far). I really like the way it implements D&D on the desktop.
Some minor glitches on my older Macbook Pro, but runs fine on my mid-level Win10 box. Looking forward to patches and the game leaving Early Access.
