Disappointing there is no demo, instead you're asked to pay $60+ for a game you haven't seen and won't really for a long time before the full product is released.
There are dozens of Forgotten Realms games if the setting is what you want, this is supposed to be Baldur's Gate, which to me is a game involving preparing and arrranging your party for real time combat where you pause the action and reorient your party to the changing landscape of the battle.
Turn based Divinity Original Sin gameplay is another animal entirely. Disappointing that real time with pausing gameplay is almost entirely missing from modern gaming.
So far I adore this game Im coming from Divinity 1 and 2 as well as the OG baldur's gate games. I can see why stalwart OG fans are mad as I'm one of them, but if you're in camp "It's different therefore it's Terrible" It's you most of all who nneds to really try it out. For everyone else with less elitest view you're just gonna love this. The painstaking effort world building and honor it pays the source material is just ASTOUNDING. Graphics ? OFF THE CHAIN DAWG!!! Framerate, Steady 30fps at 4k with minor stutters (60fps may be available I just persnally havent figured out to push beyond 30, my build is an i7, rtx2070, 16gb ddr4). But now that I'm done gushing my few gripes (or Wishlist rather) that stays my hand from a PERFECT review
1. NO Aaismer race. Come ooooon this is a big deal (the biggest to me personally on the list) give us the counter part to Tiefling
2. Scaling UI, Can I get comfy on my couch on my big 4k tv and still see the hud pretty please?
3. Option for larger cursor (I loose it all the time)
4. Xbox Contoller Support (remember what I said about liking the idea of playing this on my couch?)
Take care of the Aaismer oversight alone ill give you 5 stars. gimme all 4 Ill give ya a 5 finger slippy if you get my drift. ;)
Great game buy it. Seriously it's not even complete and what's on offer is killer.
It is so rare these days that a game of this size and complexity is released free of major bugs yet so deep and enriched. But BG 3 is just that. Are there minor items that will be patched? Of course, but they are just that - minor.
The story seemed interesting, but having to control every single action of every single character in your party just gets tiring.
If you're playing DnD, you also don't have to control the combat of the other characters in your team.
I expected something closer to Pillars of Eternity, which does give you the option to at least let your party members be controlled by AI.
