Coming from Pathfinder WOTR I think the story is underwhelming, equipment progression is bad (e.g. best longsword found in act 1 with blue rarity, only one purple an not a single legendary exist), certain seemingly important choices have no real consequences, the resting mechanics are annoying.
Playing WOTR with auto-buff mod is the much better choice for me. While BG3 gets worse with every act, WOTR becomes better.
Solid 7/10 game that sadly brings back and tarnishes irrevocably two returning characters from the classic games; Viconia & Sarevok with woeful interpretations of both.
This will always be a non-canonical follow up to the true classic BG Saga, it is not in Larian's purview to mess around with and override the variable endstates of companion characters from a story that was concluded 20 years ago just to bring them back in the worst way imaginable for this game. Please stick to your own IPs Larian, DOS2 was already a superior game to BG3.
