It's as good as you remember
It's still fun. But if you played it in the 90s when it came out, Enhanced Editions adds a bunch of QOL changes.

couldn't get multiplayer to work
Classic game, single player works great, but I couldn't connect to my cousin's game, and vice versa. Shame, really.

good averate RPG game on release
Very good customization, decent story. You can be good guy or neutral guy or evil guy. Mechanics are good. It is all right to speedrun this game and take some useful items which you can import to sequel. Baldur's gate II is much better thanks to dialogs between companions.
