D&D with Diablo-like gameplay

I regret that I did not play Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance back when it was on PS2 and Gamecube. The gameplay is in a similar vein as Diablo, but still holds true to a more Dungeons and Dragons experience. While I played through the game solo, I felt that the game would be even more fun with couch-coop. Regardless, the single player experience was enjoyable. The graphics certainly show their age, but aside from that I found no major issues playing through the campaign. My only real gripe is that the game felt a bit grindy, and I often found myself having to import back to different save points in order to level up and get better loot. Otherwise, it was easily worth the playthrough. Not to mention it also ran flawlessly on PC and the Steam Deck!

Dark Alliance 1 cant catch a break

I own this game yet my phsyicao copy is no longer works so I decided to give this a shot. From the very beginning, it looks like they STILL havent fixed the FPS issue as it slows to a near stop and then to only overcompensate making it fast forward so quickly leaving your character to the whims of dreadful fps rates. Which leads players into spending more time downloading mods, editting source code and so on just to get it in a playable state and it almost never works for very long. AVOID THIS GAME. It's physical copies are going for less if you have 6th generation console. It also has a cheat menu built in so you can screw around with gameplay as much as you'd need. I hope I can comeback in a year or so and see the reviews to check on that horrid fps problem. Whoever is calling it good never got past the sewers in the very beginning. The game goes from a snail's pace to a full on sprint to catch you up which ends up getting you killed in a game where dying is pretty much impossible if you've played the game before

Faulty Linux Version

Decided to take the plunge and purchase this game in the hopes that it would be a fun time, instead I was met with a very unpleasant experience. Game seemed to be running at twice the speed it should, and for some reason I couldn't select a character to start a game. Controller input only seemed to work on the main menu. If you're going to charge this kind of money for a straight PS2 port, at the very least least make sure it 'works'.

Dark Alliance

oh man this game is so addicting, I played through so many times on my ps2, I will never sell this game, DA1 and 2 are smash and grab but the story was great.......ugh I was sad they never continued it. 24$ seems steep but I have seen the discs on sale for higher. 5 stars is for the ps2 game play...its such a great game.

It's Fine I Guess?

[Played on it's original platform, this does not account for any potential changes as a result of the port.] Do you like the epic tale and wonderful characters of Baldur's Gate? Too bad! Do you like hack-and-slash Diablo-esque game-play? Welcome. In all seriousness, this is not a bad game. It's not a particularly good game either. But it is fun. A bit mindless, but fun, and with a reasonable selection of classes for a variety of playstyles. There are some neat story ideas, but neither the delivery nor the writing itself is particularly good. Don't expect anything on the level of actual Baldur's Gate games... or as far as I could ever tell, anything even really related to the Baldur's Gate games outside of a shared setting for the first one (the titular Baldur's Gate) which doesn't last long. But it is fun. Would be a fine buy with a solid enough discount if you're fond of the Forgotten Realms setting and the like. Maybe full price if you're especially fond of action RPGs, though it's still not special in that regard it is competant.
