the new standard for the community
For....reasons, the EE was review bombed by people. And sure, it had some issues at first but they have long since being patched out. At the end of the day, is a bringing an old game into a very decent modern state, mods already have been ported and is all around a great experience

Love it but...
...i hate when in the 2nd chapter everyone come to me for quest. I was literaly overwhemled by quest, and this ruin my immersion because i can't focus on the story.

Contender for best RPG Ever
Despite some archaic elements which require some patience, BG2 is still up there with the best RPGs ever to this very day. It just does SO much right. The character builds, the wealth and depth of support characters, the deep combat, the great dialogue, the stunning performance by David Warner as the lead villain, but most of all...the epic sense of adventure. No other game has ever managed to find the superb balance of exploration and linearity which BG2 has. Granted, you do spend too long in the middle act in an area called The Underdark, this is weaker than the rest of the game. But the rest of the game is just SO good, that it's very forgiveable. I played this for the 7th time through 9 months ago, and I'm already itching to replay it again. Simply superb.

Latest version on Linux
Had problems running the Linux version, but the Windows version runs perfectly through Lutris. Just install the Windows version through Lutris... and use the Lutris "run EXE through Wine prefix" command (the 2nd "up arrow" button next to the "play" button)... it will install version 2.5 and you can install patches and mods through that. Runs perfectly through that. Aside from that, it's good old BG2 (version 2.6 with some additions). I added some large "tweak pack" and everything runs without any issues.
