Looks good, runs well and fair priced.
Even more so on a sale. It's a nice and relaxing game, or if you want crank up the difficulty setting to get more hands on. There is a good amount of main missions as well possibility to play skirmish. A bit more content would pull this game up to a 5, such as more events, enemy faction activities, special buildings etc. in map and in overview.

Uninspired Gameplay
This could have been a gem, but it is just another build me a city the same way for some missions. Basically you always build up your colony, finish the one unique task tat is just using the standard game mechanisms and win. The story is not bad but actually has barely content, not even cutscenes but the final one. The game itself is solid but totally without love, graphics are ok, no visual highlights though. There is no challenge that is worth mentioning on normal difficulty, the tasks and rewards are literally all the same in each campaign setting... In general user interface/handling is good, with some weird exceptions e.g. that you cannot limit your production/set your trades, etc. in the important phases of the game... all in one: Uninspired, short and boring - do not buy at full price.

Needs serious Work
A Lot of potential, but... It shows I am making water when I am losing water. Same for Food etc. When a spore infects the colony it's GAME OVER as you CAN NOT stop the spread with containment or hospitals....... And around we go! I'll try it again in a few months to see if there are improvements, but I won't hold my breath.

Looks can be and are decieving
Aven Colony looks good graphically but gameplay is boring, unengaging, pointless micro-management. Uninstalled.

I played the hex out of another colony builder game and removed it from my computer after playing this. Visuals and graphics are great. Hits the sweet spot for micro and macro managment (for me). And, it has a storyline.
