Trudograd is a stand-alone story expansion to Atom RPG - a turn-based roleplaying game set in post-apocalyptic Soviet Union.
It is inspired by classic cRPG titles of the past, such as early Fallout, Wasteland and Baldur’s Gate series.
22 years ago the USSR and the Western Bloc destroyed each other in a nuclear inferno. Millions died instantly, society collapsed and technology was sent back into the Middle Ages. You are a member of ATOM – an organization tasked with protecting the post-apocalyptic remnants of humanity.
Two years ago you – a rookie agent of ATOM – were sent on a dangerous mission into the Soviet Wastes. As a result, you uncovered certain information about a new threat that can potentially destroy the struggling remnants of humanity.
In Atom RPG: Trudograd your goal is to travel to a giant post-apocalyptic metropolis that withstood the tests of nuclear obliteration and social collapse. There you must find what is thought to be humanity’s last hope in fending off the menace from outer space!

- Multiple-solution quests, which actively change the city around you;
- Ability to transfer your hero from our previous game (Atom RPG);
- An easy game to pick up. While Trudograd is a continuation of the first game’s plot, it is also friendly towards new players, and will quickly fill you in on the lore and major developments you might have missed;
- A result of a two year long community effort, made by players for players. This game encompasses a lot of changes from our previous title, that were inspired by user feedback.

One step forward, two back
I see a lot of comparisons to Fallout, and I see that in the UI, not the gameplay. Since every character has the same questions with different answers, there's very little organic conversaton, it's just wading through walls of text that, while flavorful, are just repetitive. The good news is the writing is much improved from the first game, but the bad news is the logic isn't. Apparently I'm softlocked, and since they decided to remove the console, I can't repair the game. It's not even a logical break, it's just a bug where a character disappears. Unless you feel like following a walkthrough, it's very possible it'll happen to you, too. Combat is dull, the gameplay is slow, and the plot isn't enough to carry the day. The world suffers from a lack of a baseline. Someone asks me if I can find him seeds that grow goats. In the real world, or even Fallout, this would be pure insantiy. In this world, with mutants with mind control, vampires, and who knows what else, it's unclear. Should I call this man crazy? Is this just something that happens? Games like Stalker greate atmosphere and tone by creating a world much like ours, then having small but sharp breaks. There is no terror like the world suddenly not playing by its own rules; the uncanny valley of "this is just wrong." Sadlly, Atom's world puts forth so many fantastic elements, there's no real tone of dispair or horror, this is simply the setting. A mutant is closer to an elf in fantasy than some great threat. Plenty of people love the game, but it's buggy, slow, repetitive, and just not very fun. Obviously they see something I don't or value different things in a game. Even if it was free of mechanical errors, it simply doesn't stand out. It was clearly made with love and passion, but I can't recommend it.

Horrible design
At one point in the game, a criminal named Big Bao demanded protection money, which I did not pay. After that, he tried to have me killed, and I was ambushed by five people. Following this, I killed Big Bao and his boss. After that, the game continued as if nothing had happened. I also saved the game, overwriting my previous save. Shortly after, I had to choose which faction to join from two options. I decided to join the police. They gave me three missions, which I completed, and at this point, I excluded myself from the possibility of joining the other faction. What was less normal was that two criminals from Big Bao's crew then showed up at the police station, and at that point, the entire police force turned against me. So, to summarize, someone wanted to kill me, I killed them, and after a few hours of gameplay, the game practically came to an end.

I'm Thoroughly Impressed
The game looks good, runs good, has a surprising amount of C&C, interesting lore and just plain fun. Recommend.
