I have always enjoyed REAL RPGS. I have to say ATOM is good. It reminds me of fallout 1/2 and wasteland more than wasteland 2 did! It also run ok on my laptop.
Get it and try it.
I participated in a mutant porn video and had unprotected wasteland sex.
Beyond that, this is a good old-school wasteland RPG with colorful characters, some survival and crafting elements and, typical of European-style games, a non-black and white morality with several shades of grey, decent plot and good dialoge with branching outcomes.
The game has some faults - it's not clear how companions' abilities affect gameplay, and it seems only combat skills are really useful for them. You can't control them in the turn-based combat and they tend to do stupid things, like moving right next to an enemy before shooting, while equipped with a sniper rifle that has penalties at close range... The inventory view is too limited and tends to jump around while crafting, so there's lots of scrolling involved and finding that one item can be a hassle. Handguns are almost useless, considering their low range, low damage, and most are prone to jamming and that they require ammo, you might as well equip a melee weapon.
But otherwise this is a pretty polished game for an Indie-developed title and good fun.
A true successor to FO 1/2, but this time in the former Soviet Union. It's got excellent writing, meaningful C&C, almost total freedom in player agency. Combat is biased towards ranged because there is a reason everyone uses firearms... Completely recommended if you liked the original Wasteland and Fallout games and are looking for a worthy successor.
I feel like I'm playing Fallout 2 again but with an entirely different story. Having a good time and I'm already 10hours in, so I feel it deserves 5 stars, especially for the price.
