Great Game, Great Sountrack
The game itself has been written about quite well by others but I just want to add that the soundtrack to this game is quite good. Beautiful and mood-evoking string quartet pieces that are simply gorgeous and fit perfectly with the game's atmosphere. The music is almost worth the price of admission by itself.

Great game, but unplayable on Win 8.
I bought this game originally years ago when I had my laptop with Windows XP, and this was one of my favourite games, so when I saw it cheap on GoG I just had to get it again. That was a mistake. Using Windows 8, this game is far too laggy and horrible slowdown makes a fun game just downright frustrating to play. If these issues are ever fixed, this game is well worth 5 stars, but until then... not so much.

a flawed gem
Sometimes beautiful graphics, great storytelling, complex game systems, boring music, wonky spell colleges and tech disciplines, gets repetitive. Play it once, then mention it during geek party talk forever.

Fun, addicting gameplay
I didn't know anything about this game going in, other than that it's "like Fallout". Since Fallout was one of my favorite RPGs of all time, I thought I'd give Arcanum a shot. I've since been sucked into the game, and in fact only am taking the time to make this review since I figure anyone that sells such a good game should have good reviews to show for it. The gameplay is solid, the level of customization is frankly staggering, it's got a great, quirky sense of humor, and even today the graphics look great. There's really no reason to not buy this game. A+ recommendation from me.
