It's a tolerable experimental game, but is intentionally obtuse and tedious to figure out. If there were more to do and some reward for it, it might have been a fun game. Unless you enjoy tedium, I suggest passing on this game.
Sharp the stone or sharp the stick in a QTE. Kill Animal in a QTE. That's the game.
No, the supposed "difficulty" and "complexity" of this game does NOT represent the troubles that our ancestors had to deal with. It's just atrocious game design, don't spin it otherwise...
As many other reviewers already said, it is a great concept but executed SO badly, this game just doesn't deserve any recognition at all, no matter how good graphics and music it could be, that doesn't make up a videogame. I tried REALLY HARD to like this, I played it with the controller (the absolute first game in over 20 years I ever played with a controller on a PC, I HATE the controller...) to see if interactions and handling get better: it JUST DOESN'T. It never gets better. I don't have a true kink for ranting so I'm not willing to describe everything that's wrong with this game, and SPECIFICALLY IN ITS VERY CORE DESIGN, that's stuff for professional reviewers, which I am not, I'm just a long term passionate gamer that happens to know something about GOOD game design. This game just has none of it, NONE! Let's just see a couple brilliant examples:
- you NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS. Oh my God, how could this even be acceptable I really don't know!!! You can have an object in each hand. can only use the one in the right hand, but you need **BOTH** hands to do some (very crucial) tasks. Like drinking water, I mean literally. Sounds jerky and unintuitive even to explain, well imagine actually playing it. I really don't recommend trying. You may go "well, just drop your stuff on the ground", well I DO, it's not very safe to do in a prehistoric jungle you know... the fact you can't see what you are carrying is just so clunky I'm not even able to describe it, sometimes I got to infer what that is by checking the prompts. Imagine being a primitive man and not being able to see what you have in your hands, like if you had scotoma or something; how sad. Out of characters, just don't feed into project like this, they are KILLING the whole industry, we deserve MUCH BETTER
Despite it says this game has controller support, the controller didn't work for me. The interaction was super confusing. Waaaaaaay too much story and dialog and intro before you get to the actual game. Not much in the way of help once you are there.
Seems like a good concept, but it just doesn't land due to the poor controls
