as "novel" as a visual novel gets
Pretty pictures, good voice-acting... virtually no gameplay. I only made it a couple hours into the "game", and I was barely presented with any choices as a player. Plus: the first thing that happened to me upon exiting the beginning sequence was getting kissed non-consensually by some guy who was apparently supposed to be that world's LI, so I guess I was a little jaded from then on. I'm too old to play these games now, lol. The character you play barely does anything, and when she does, it's always to nod and agree with something another character says or do what another character tells her to do... without your prompting! It didn't feel like playing a game, it felt like watching an anime that occasionally "asked" for your opinion like Dora. There was no room for customisation or characterisation. The LI's (from my observation) seemed very unlikable and like a bundle of tropes; I don't think the dialogue between characters was realistic at all. I pretty much expect this from Otome-type games, though, so I'm not too disappointed with that. An example: The route in the "Spade World" begins with your finding the LI flirting with a crowd of women, being convinced by another character to go back to your apartment (no choice not to do so), going on a date with said LI (no choice not to do so), being forced to ask him to take you to work (no choice...), sleeping, going to work... what? There's no game! You get to pick in this time what nickname to address him as and if you choose ONE option that makes him slightly suspicious of you and that's. It. Combine that dumpster fire with a load of very anime-typical, awkward dialogue. The one star is because the (only) thing that made my little artist heart beat with amour about this game was the awesome, unique interface and the extremely well-done portraits and voice acting.
