Alpha Protocol

One of my favorite games of all time. Gameplay for the moment to moment parts of the game can be fiddly but the story is great and your choices actually do matter the overall trajectory of the game. GOG's work on this fixed some the more annoying bugs that came with playing this on modern computers. Highly recommended.

It's not bad. But it's not very good. I went into the game under the impression that it's going to be some elaborate plot and that I'll be wowed by the quality of it. It's fine. My expectations were a bit higher than they should've been.

Love me some Obisidian stuff and picked this up cause of that Obsidian RPG sauce but my goodness is it janky as hell. Definitely cannot recommend to any new players thinking of playing this. Maybe for those who've finished it before and enjoyed the game, but its not a very good game even for 2010 standards

I was prepared that there would be some obstacles to overcome - but I bought it for the story elements. I did not get there. The game is locked at 62 fps - you have te re-configure a bit (bsmoothing) but then it still does not work properly. Flimmering, jitter, hitches. I basically stopped at the 1st computer hack, crawling headaches already there, 2 minutes at the computer and they broke out in full. Add to this godawful movement and that was that for me.

(About 9h into it, though with a ton of trial and failure in figuring the mechanics out.) Yes, the story/dialogue and decision system seems impressive. And so easy to fuck up (and then difficulty to undo unless you manually saved last checkpoint). While many playstyles probably work, I find there being too many sections where they break the stealth for me. And with the pistol being useless beyond 6-10 meters, it takes a long time waiting for the perk to cool down to get more "long range" shots in. The most annoying part is how much room for improvement there is. Like hanging out with a really funny and interesting friend, who at random times punches you in the face.
