You can in general skip this one.
Many years ago I bought this game after I saw its intro and gameplay in a local video game review television program. The intro looked pretty exciting though it honestly was not that special and as I enjoyed games like Fallout 1 and 2 a lot I really wanted to give this a try as this game also has a sort of post-apocalyptic atmosphere. However game magazines already already warned that this game was not up to par to that classic, something I soon came to realize myself. I only finished it as I liked the themes and wanted to see the end. Alien Earth is not really a RPG even though there are "lite" stat building elements. Through frequent use of weapons and so called psionic powers you become better in these and they become more effective. (you have to use psionic powers repeatedly in order to unlock new ones) Despite perhaps looking a little like classic such as Fallout and Diablo Alien Earth plays more like a sort of adventure-action hybrid. There are some puzzles that you need to solve by collecting items and using or combing them. Observing your environment to see what you can interact with is also very important. But because of the background art style it can be a hassle to see what you can interact with. Some is very obvious but other objects or places are rather hidden. Movement is unfortunately very slow as you cannot run, and while maps are not big it sometimes can take a long time to go through them. Not all paths are clear either. Combat in the game is simplified. You select a weapon or psionic power and then either approach an enemy or start firing and there seems to be a degree of luck if you do sufficient damage. Because of this the game sometimes seems to have difficulty spikes. Some of the controls IMO have a rather bad layout. Most can be done with the mouse but some actions must be done with keyboard buttons. Climbing up and down is separate from the movement buttons. Sound and voices are in general average. Play only if you are curious.
