Videos shouldn't autoplay and should have full controls
for mozilla browsers: go to about:config and set media.autoplay.enabled to false - I shouldn't have to do this, but seems that's the only safe bet...
I went to Brassheart page and all of a sudden my browser slowed to a crawl which made it impossible to read informations on that page. Had to painstakingly stop every autolooping video. Please consider people with not-so-modern computers and stop this modern nonsense! Why not at make it play upon hover or on click? Autoplay is a total nuissance... auto-loop makes it even worse!
God. I hate this crap. Tried everything and it just won't stop all this BS. Just go to the Blair Witch page for God's sake.
+100 That's the worst trend ever. You do not have to go with every modern shit. Nothing should happen if I do not CLICK anything. GOG is now going in the wrong direction
Autoplay is quite literally the scourge of the modern web. If you use an extension that blocks HTML autoplay, these will stop, but we shouldn't have to.
I agree! Screenshots of a game always give an idea to the consumers about what the game they're about to buy is like faster, compared to videos where there will always be some seconds wasted to wait for the video to buffer. What's worse, sometimes the videos would be a cinematic trailer with no signs of gameplay whatsoever.
Hate it, it's just annoying, unnecessary and a waste of my bandwidth.
Very intrusive.
GOG should have in mind also that:
1. many people may access their site from mobile devices with limited data plans - autoplay of videos may add to the nuisance;
2. ditto for some random ISPs out there providing internet connectivity at limited bandwidth and/or greedy plans;
3. depending on service quality, this will impact heavily on current downloads or now common streaming services by either mobile phones or so called smart TVs;
4. it's intrusive anyway if the user has no control over it.
This has to go fast. GOG and Galaxy have become so abrasive and intrusive that I never wanna visit the site or launch the app unless I really, REALLY have to.
+1, I'm just there to browse the store page, I can click on the videos myself IF I WANT TO. I can see the videos perfectly fine, no need to shove them in my face. You're getting into intrusive territory, some of us might eventually be annoyed enough to look into video blockers which means you'll have fucked it up for ALL your products. Don't do that.
Thank you! I hate this intrusive behavior. Most browsers have the option to disallow it, but of course Galaxy doesn't. I'll avoid browsing the store as long as it's like this.
Yes, please. Stop the autoplay nonsense. It's annoying. Full controls would be nice, but aren't on the same level of necessity. If you don't want to change the default setting, at least give your users the option to turn autoplay off, permanently.
