Using snap packages (https://snapcraft.io/) would make games easier to run on every GNU/Linux distribution and improve security by isolating game files from the user home filesystem. Actually, this is not really a wish. It's more an idea about how to make wine based games more safe. I tested TrackMania Nations Forever with this solution and it was working like a charm on my laptop with Ubuntu 18.04 (https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/call-for-testing-trackmania-nations-forever/5708) By the way, there are several different solutions other than "snap" but I thought it would be easier to use this one as this is becoming the new default for Ubuntu.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against SNAP! I don’t believe it, it’s all. And suffer the consequences of this vow, for lack of knowledge, or reflection! So I made one: against wishes «A package to govern them all» You have already voted? I am credible then? That’s good! : -) .......... ............. ........... ......... ................... ................... .......... :-)

Hi;-) Ha good? (it’s true that it has its small character! ) I remain convinced that FLATPAK SNAP APPIMAGE is a bad thing for Linux video games! .... it is enough to develop natively under Linux, and we have directly a portable product Windows, Linux, Mac .... There is less work and the 3 are already natively managed .... FLATPAK = (Windows games + Wine + libraries) = a return to the difficult to impossible native games .... What do you think?

You almost interested me, with your point of view… Then you just lost me when you discredited yourself by taking Frederic Bezies as a reference.

Here’s just some reason that makes me think, the UNIVERSAL PACKAGE FORMATS are not a good idea.___________________Additional work for GOG or the developer loaded with the universal package that will delay the release of Linux games and increase the production price, see maybe the deletion of the Linux version.__________________________A very heavy system that slows down the games and will make a bad reputation for the developer and outstanding performance of Linux.________________________Newcomers arrive on Linux who will not understand how to install their game, for you it went well for me nothing works properly with Snap is Flatpak! ... etc...etc...etc..................I have to keep going ... there’s still so much to say._____________But... thank you for wanting to advance GNU/Linux, same fight ;-)
