Bonsewswesa Sure, say that a game is censored in a particular country but don't have a country select option if it doesn't do anything. We don't need any more nanny-state behaviour.
fil-cat Well, in this case I must say that they are most often forced to do o by government and national laws, not because they want to restrict the market. CDPR makes it even an open policy that the use of VPNs is not prohibited with their service
ELFswe As written earlier. GOG don't have much to say about when it comes to geoblocking. They have to follow the law if they want to sell their games in said countries. It could go so far as the gog website would get blocked in a specific country if they don't use geoblocking for a specific game.
##@@##@@ What you 'could' do would be to compile a list of 'relevant' games blocked from sale in your country, post that list in the GOG forums of your region and provide the contact info of whatever government office deals with that topic.
If a game gets whitelisted legally, I'm sure GOG will be more than happy to whitelisted it in their shop as well.
joppo Much as I can see your intent, I don't think I can back it. Geoblocking isn't GOG's goal. They gain nothing from making a product available to a smaller subset of their customer base.
They only do it because they can't risk being sued by government or a "worried citizen" (more adequately called bitchy jerk) that discovered that people can buy a violent game and WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN???/?question?
And just as they can't risk it, I don't wanna risk them wasting a lot of money in lawyers to fight government idiocy (and probably lose).
Bonsewswesa If you want to make an argument, have some valid points instead of hyperbole. Geoblocking is an active and deliberate restriction, not some passive thing they have nothing to do with.
elgonzo Yeah... Also, smoking weed is legal in some countries. But it isn't in mine. Damn, GOG, do something about it. Other people can smoke pot without legal hassle, why can't i...!?!
