Stop deleting old patches
I missed Baldur's Gate 3 Update v4.1.1.4494476-GOG and now have to reload the whole game. unnecessary.
I always buy games from GOG when possible because I appreciate being able to download offline installers and manage my games manually. I don't see any reason to delete patches. I am currently downloading more than 100GB for BG3 in order to get the mirror because the version I have installed no longer has patches. The possibility of contacting support and getting patches after a person looks at the ticket is no substitute. There is no reason to delete upgrade patches.
YES, PLEASE.
Some games like Baldur's Gate used to have a niche fanbase with plenty of modding & unofficial patching sites; lots of these websites are gone 20 years later... at least some repositories remain but this could happen again anywhere.
It's clear that GOG finds the original customers annoying as fuck. Just use the optional client.
I'm okay with patches going away, but there's probably no good reason to remove them, just organise the downloads list for each game into dropdown categories.
What I want is a full copy of every version of each game available, something they mysteriously do provide but only through Galaxy.
I agree.
I completely agree. This has frustrated me so much, especially with big games like Divinity Original Sin 2. There is no reason for this limitation. Other companies provided the ability to download all patches 10 years ago or more. There is no reason with today's cheap storage to have this limitation. GOG Galaxy can update your game from any prior version, so obviously the patches are still stored somewhere for Galaxy to access. All we are asking is to make the patches available on the website as well. I want to be able to back up my game (DRM Free remember) but I don't want to download another 20-30 GB every month and use up my bandwidth. I want to download the patches and apply them myself to my games and back them up.
i'd like to see at least a few months grace given to obsolete patches. the GOG classic downloader update indications are often not accurate.
Not just that, let us download older versions of the base game with offline installers. I mean, I appreciate GOG's adding rollback into Galaxy, but a) that doesn't really help those of us on Linux, and b) what if we want to back up an older build that's not distributed via installer anymore?
I actually prefer them to delete old files that are no longer needed. The patch should be available for a time but after that, just the installer.
Fully agree, with Divinity: Original Sin 2 you're looking at a 20GB download if you miss a single patch. Or forced to use Galaxy.
