Select target platform when buying a game
That's a really neat idea, kvark!
Well, if it's Windows only game then yeah, they have no idea how you want to use the game. Would be nice if you could somehow indicate for GOG, that you run it in Wine.
@shmerl: download data doesn't say anything useful if I download windows binaries to play them in Wine (as I did with The Witcher for example). I do hope that they at least store the browser/system data...
@kvark If shmerl is right about GOG showing download data to devs (and I'm pretty sure he is), then you might as well just download the games and then delete them.
@shmerl: download data is nice but not nearly enough. I roughly download 10% of the games I buy. Ironically, most of the games not played are once bought just to support Linux in the first place.
Great idea! I play Gwent on Linux via Wine, and I would be glad to point out that "Hey, Linux got some gamers, we exist, and porting isn't pointless!"
What's needed, is for GOG to share that data with developers if they ask about it. GOG probably already do that, but I'm not sure.
Another useful thing would be for GOG to share it with everyone else.
No need. It's not the purchase that indicates the platform, but what you download. GOG already have that data if they need to analyze it.
+1 to that!
Sometimes I buy games on Windows but play them on Linux, so will it count for a Windows sale or a Linux one?
