This would be really helpful for people doing retro PC builds with older operating systems. The GOG Preservation Program is amazing for running games on modern systems, but sometimes these fixes break compatibility with older systems. A few days ago I was trying to install my GOG copy of F.E.A.R. on a Windows XP rig and was getting an error on startup. Turns out I had to rename the d3d9.dll file in the install directory to disable the fixes and get it working. I took a while to figure this out and other games may not have a simple way to undo any modern OS fixes so it would be nice to download the OG installer so it would "Just Work".
