GOG to accept crypto-currency
I'm thrilled to hear that GOG is going to accept cryptocurrency! This move is a fantastic step towards embracing modern technology and providing more flexible payment options for gamers. It’s great to see such a forward-thinking approach from a major platform. By accepting crypto, GOG is making it easier for gamers worldwide to access their favourite games. It's a win-win for everyone! For those interested in the broader impacts of cryptocurrency and its applications, I recommend checking out this insightful resource: <a href=«https://eurax.app/»target="_blank">https://eurax.app/</a>. This decision by GOG truly marks an exciting new chapter in the gaming industry.

Thanks for the information!
I also really want to see the ability to purchase content here with cryptocurrency. Whatever coins you choose to support, I do want you to at least support Monero (XMR), but I can understand if you need to support other ones first like Bitcoin. More and more places are supporting crypto, and it would be amazing if you began to also.
I am from Iran. I live in a country where it is not possible to pay in dollars etc. That's why I can't use gog. I wish gog would add crypto payment
I hear you!!! Crypto payments are definitely becoming more and more popular, and having options beyond traditional methods is always a plus.
While I can't comment on GOG's future plans, I can share my experience using cryptocurrencies for online purchases.
I use a service called CryptoProcessing cryptoprocessing.com/accept-usdt-tether to facilitate payments with Tether (USDT). It allows merchants to accept various cryptocurrencies and convert them to fiat currency for easy withdrawals.
Here's why I like it:
Convenience: No need for credit cards or intermediaries like PayPal.
Fast transactions: Cryptocurrency transactions are usually faster than traditional methods.
Security: Blockchain technology provides a high level of transaction security.
Flexibility: CryptoProcessing accepts many cryptocurrencies, including popular ones like Bitcoin and Dogecoin (potentially useful for GOG in the future!).
Perhaps GOG will consider similar options in the future. In the meantime, CryptoProcessing might be a good alternative for you if you want to explore cryptocurrency payments for online purchases.

XMR's privacy was not "proven to be cracked". I don't have anything particularly against dash but trying to lie about XMR is pretty shady. XMR is one of the only ones that is actually used, and actually private.
Simply put: For all addresses, you can't find out which address has what amount of XMR, unlike any other currency.
This is incorrect, Darvond. I'm able to pay my internet bill in Bitcoin, as well as my phone bill. I also use it to pay for my groceries, in the US.
Bitcoin can't pay the utilities or buy you groceries. It's worth as much as being paid in exposure, probably less, frankly.
The problem with supporting cryptocurrencies is they don't scale well. BTC, XMR, LTC, BCH, they're all slow and weak in the user experience department. For example, you have to wait an hour before you can be fully sure the transaction won't be doublespent with all these coins. And with XMR, you actually have to wait 20 minutes (!!) before you can SEND again. So an hour to spend received funds, and in XMR that wait plus an extra 20 minute wait for each send (not to mention XMR's privacy was proven to be cracked for many years--privacy is the raison d'etre of XMR so its a got some usability issues).
The only cryptocurrency that actually works AS A CURRENCY is Dash. Dash is the ONLY cryptocurrency with instant transactions (Nano, XRP and XLM are not real cryptos, they don't have proof of work mining), governance on-chain (decision making to prevent community splits like the one that happened in BTC in 2017 that created BCH and the three that happened in BCH subsequent to that which devastated that coin's community), as well as strong, optional privacy (anonymity set size of 40 million+ compared to 4 Billion in ZEC (Zec is slower and less adopted but more private than Dash) and a measley 16 in XMR). Anonymity set is the number of other people your transaction is mixed with.
Anyway, Dash is also the most widely accepted cryptocurrency in the world. It is HUGE in Latin America, Jamaica (more android wallets than the U.S.), and especially in hyperinflation hit Venezuela (where it has been the number coin for payments since 2017, yep even more than Bitcoin!)
Why do people like Dash so much? Because most other cryptocurrencies are designed to make a very small group of people (insiders, devs, preminers etc) rich. Dash is different. Dash is designed exclusively to be a payments coin. So it has instant transactions although its actually even MORE secure than Bitcoin (it is impossible to 51% attack Dash thanks to Chainlocks, BTC can still be 51% attacked). All in all, Dash has the most versatility, the largest community of actual users (not just get rich quick guys) but people who use it for daily payments all over the world. Oh and because it has fully paid nodes unlike BTC and other coins which all rely on volunteers to eat the cost of supporting the entire network (!!) , Dash can afford to scale when lots and lots of people use it. Eth and BTC fees SKYROCKET when too many people use them, and lightning network doesn't really work (you can't scale 1st layer on 2nd layer).
So all in all, I'd rate Dash an 8/10 (it needs more recognition and acknowledgement of its superior technology) and say that it would make GOG very happy if they added it, because it will increase their userbase, give them more freedom and allow them to serve more customers with an instant and pleasant payment experience.
would be great. i don't know why some people are against this feature, its not like we are asking for crypto to be the only available mode of payment.
Go away
fuck no
No.
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as a payment option would be great. BTC bitcoin usually has fees extending over $5 for 1 simple transaction! Bitcoin Cash allows more transactions per second so the transaction fee is less than $0.01
plz gog accept my monopoly money
Nano
Bitcoin Cash pretty please :3
woofe woofe barke byorke WOOFE
heh doge coin.
*** I guess that wasn't considering any additional payment processing fee but the fee to send from wallet to wallet is .1xvg so it's right out of the gate cheaper.
If GOG accepted Verge (xvg) the transaction fee would be extremely small (a fee of .1xvg, where 1xvg currently is roughly 7cents) and very fast (~10seconds). This would be ideal because if you're going to offer refunds, the fiat value at the time a refund is requested should be the same as when it arrives in the users wallet.
This is less predictable with other coins.
Well, GOG should think if people would buy games with cryptocurrency X. If X is Bitcoin, users might not want to buy cheap games because the transactions cost a lot. Check out this graph: bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactionfees-btc-bch.html I'd much prefer to pay for games with Bitcoin Cash.
I'd love to see crypto currency support. Ideally you should add native support for all the popular currencies, eg: Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Monero, Litecoin & Dash.
To this day Bitcoin is still the reference cryptocurrency. GOG supporting altcoins in the near future is less than a wish, it's a pipe dream.
So please support Bitcoin. Do not bother with alternatives.
Helpful for youngsters too.
