GOG Gift Card (redeem 1 or more games of 5.99/9.99/x.xx value)
I really wanted to do some giveaways on stream, but without a giftcards option GoG is unfortunately off the list of stores I can use. My money is forced to go elsewhere.
Really wanted to buy a friend an online gift voucher for GOG this year, only to discover it wasn't possible and I had to get them one for Steam instead. <br /> <br /> Not only do I personally prefer GOG every time, but I wanted to get the word to this friend about the superiority of GOG over Steam... but had to promote the one I was less fond of instead due to the absence of gift cards here! :(
Physical gift cards are challenging due to distribution and stuff like that, but "sent via email" or "print out a code and give to someone" style of gift cards to load into wallets seem like they would be a big win for <a href="http://gog.com" class="light_un" target="_blank">gog.com</a> (getting cash now and not having to send any to the developers until later when it is used by the customer, and it forces the recipient to create an account and become a customer). If available, I would be giving out a few this year.
Was surprised you guys don't have gift cards. MUCH prefer to buy on GOG over Steam (I only use Steam when forced to) but I can easily add a steam gift card to my Amazon wish list which makes it simple for in-laws & such. No such luck for GOG. :(
GOG please sell gift card
I would love if GOG could have a card system similar to Steam's. I like buying cards for virtual wallets. Yes, it adds an extra step to the procedure, but it simplifies and physically forces me to budget my finances. But, if GOG had a physical card system in place; it'd probably be my most shopped at location for virtual games. <br /> Also, my parents, wife, and family have all come to the conclusion that just getting me a gift card for Steam, PSN, or Nintendo eShop is easily the best gift for me; if there was a GOG card, I'd probably recommend that over Steam or the others over half the time. <br /> <br /> From what it looks like from below comments, GOG would only benefit from both the younger and older (like myself) demographic with a card system... hopefully the logistics for this is possible in the future... <br /> <br /> One can only hope.
Not interested. Money is always inherently more valuable than a giftcard. Also either way, the sentiment is "get something, I don't know/care what."
Still waiting my grandparents would of gotten me a 100$ one if they sold them. GOG loses to STEAM.
Great way for me to ask people who don't use the site to get me a gift I can spend on the site.
simply == simplify, damn spell checkers!
Physical gift cards at retail worldwide are too much for GoG I think, but I'd love virtual gift certificates. It would simply some friends' birthdays for me ;)
I'm so down for this. I want GOG to get that extra visibility and have them asking what it is then having their curiosity peaked.
it would be great to walk into best buy or walmart and get a gog gift card so I could actually buy games from gog. the banks don't let me do business with gog cause they are overseas and I dislike paypal. I mean who is paypal? they just popped up out of nowhere one day and started forcing people to use them. anyways gog gift cards would greatly increase sales from me to gog during summer and winter sales. like right now I would buy darksiders 1 and 2, even though I own them on steam, if it were easy to purchase games on gog. If there were gift cards I would be buying grim dawn again, van helsing series again, and so many more games on gog that I already have on steam. I like my games to work offline and the drm of steam breaks games sometimes when I don't have internet. <br /> <br /> so long story short gog gift cards = more gog sales
I would love to buy gift cards... even virtual ones... for my friends for Christmas. I don't want to buy them a specific games. I just want to give them GoG cash so they can get whatever they want. I'd probably get a $50 card right now if it was possible.
This would be really good for me. My friends and family ask me what I want for Christmas/Birthdays and I always tell them to just get me a Gamestop gift card. Well, getting a GOG gift card would be very useful as well :)
Wanted to give a gift card as opposed to a specific game, but don't see any option here so I guess my money goes elsewhere.
Would make it the perfect present (at least for me to receive!) this Christmas!
I 997th this motion.
I would like GOG gift cards too.
I've heard so much good about this site and you guys do have fantastic deals, but I buy my games using gift cards as I find it the most secure way to make on line purchases. The fact that you guys don't accept them really sucks. Great site, it really is, but this is a deal breaker for me. Whether it's acceptance of normal gift cards or a GOG gift card, it certainly needs to be an option.
$5.99/$9.99 cards or just $20 GC would be awesome.
I just want to be able to pay for games without having to use a credit/debit/whatever card and thus have less risk having my information stolen.
This site needs <a href="http://www.shecasual.com" class="light_un" target="_blank">www.shecasual.com</a> cards so that people who don't have PayPal or credit cards, or can't find a bank that will do business with <a href="http://www.womenclubdress.com" class="light_un" target="_blank">www.womenclubdress.com</a> can enjoy the site's games.
I second this as well. Getting cards from India to work here involves surrenderring most bank details and they still may not allow you to do so. Indian credit and debit cards are designed in a specific way so they won't work without and authorisation code. But only Indian sites verify the code. When non Indian sites try to take the due amount of money without veryfying the code, the transaction flip flops. So please implement this, since it affects a lot of people outside the US and Europe.
I want this too! <br /> <br /> I have no credit card, and would love to buy a gift card from a store so I can get some games.
Virtual gift cards would be a great way to thank the gog members that give a lot of their time to our little community.
My sister is much better at picking the games she wants than I am, thus this would be far preferred than gifting a specific game.
The entire reason I joined this site was for this very reason. I was was unaware that this wasn't possible to do here, thus the gift I was planning on giving my sister for her birthday is unfortunately impossible. To Steam I go unfortunately.
Wouldn't it be easier for GOG to make printable gift cards. That shouldn't even be hard to do.
I would love to be able to buy store credit so I don't have to use my debit card every time I want to buy a game. I would be much more willing to just click a button that subtracts from my GoG money, than having to input my info again and again, especially during the Insomniac Sale.
steam has wallet cards. why cant gog? I dont have a credit card so I cant buy stuff from gog, which is VERY frustrating.
Why not this?
It would be nice to have gift cards available in stores. I feel safer using gift cards than I do using my credit card or PayPal online.
I can't buy games on Gog, none of the banks I go to now want to deal with an out of country site that has a Cyprus account ie most frauds use them cause they are cheap. Either Gog needs to switch their banking or roll out gift cards. I can't buy someone Planescape when I promise I would because its only on here.....tempted to buy an used copy off of amazon and call it good lol.
I agree. Gift cards are also a good way to protect your identity, since you can pay with cash for them. The extra security would be welcome, especially in today's Internet culture.
I would purchase these semi-regularly.
This is a awesome idea, finally a gift for my brother he will like! :) <br />
Completely agree. Some form of Gift Card option would be absolutely excellent!
Having a virtual gift card option would be a nice touch :)
If they're physical cards, great. If they aren't, that's fine, too. I would just like the opportunity to gift someone an amount of money to spend on whatever game(s) they want instead of only having the option to gift them specific games that I want them to have.
Good idea.
If GOG had gift cards I would never, ever buy anything else but the those for my friends and family. I have 6 siblings, and all of them are game nerds. I don't like the gift a game option because then I have to try to guess what they like.
It's something I'd want too. Given how vulnerable e-commerce sites have proven themselves to be, I am not comfortable leaving my credit-card number with them. I much prefer using pre-paid gift-cards or reloadable "credit cards" with only a fixed amount of money on it to limit my liability. <br /> <br /> I had the same issue with Steam and almost never used their online store until they started selling those gift-cards; now it's a rare month I don't buy a game from them. I imagine the same thing would happen if GOG offered a similar service. <br /> <br /> Of course, <a href="http://GOG.com" class="light_un" target="_blank">GOG.com</a> is still a pretty small operation, and even if they did offer these cards, getting them onto the shelves at your local retailer will probably be a major challenge. Still, it is obviously something a lot of their customers are interested in... here's just a selection of other wishes asking for the same thing (vote for them all!). Hopefully this is something they are working hard to achieve; it certainly would pay off for them in the end! <br /> <br /> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gift_cards_gog_balance" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gift_cards_gog_balance</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gift_certificates_for_gog" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gift_certificates_for_gog</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/more_payment_methods" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/more_payment_methods</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gog_cash" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gog_cash</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/prepaid_gift_card_payment_acceptance" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/prepaid_gift_card_payment_acceptance</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/allow_the_use_of_gift_cards" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/allow_the_use_of_gift_cards</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gift_card_payments" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/gift_card_payments</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/make_it_possible_to_buy_games_with_north_american_reloadable_cards_gift_cards_etc" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/make_it_possible_to_buy_games_with_north_american_reloadable_cards_gift_cards_etc</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/physical_gift_cards" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/physical_gift_cards</a> <br /> * <a href="http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/the_option_to_buy_gog_credits_via_brick_and_mortar_stores" class="light_un" target="_blank">http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/the_option_to_buy_gog_credits_via_brick_and_mortar_stores</a> <br />
I would have made purchases here previously but could not due to visa gift cards only accepting domestic use and not international.
I'd be making WAY more purchases this way as I don't have good debit / credit available to me! <br />
I'm afraid I'm gonna need an option like this too. I USED to buy through Paypal, but then I crashed headlong into their stupid $2000 limit for "unverified" customers. By "unverified", what they REALLY mean is you don't have THEIR Mastercard and they don't have your bank account info, both of which are completely unreasonable! (No, apparently they can't, or more likely just WON'T, verify the credit card info we already gave them.) <br /> <br /> If new payment methods are not added, GOG, you may have lost a customer, not through any fault of your own, but through the foolish decisions of another corporate entity.
Steam has them. GameStop has them. Why not GOG? I'd grab one in a heartbeat if they where available. Everyone please spread the word to get this feature more votes. It's an awesome idea.
I'm preparing to ditch Paypal. And since prepaid visa/mastercard don't work outside of the U.S. I'd love an alternate way to pay. Either gift cards or chargeable account balances would be nice. Even flat rate cards like we see at Target/BestBuy for $20.00, etc.
this would be an excellent choice
This would be awesome. I would like to use prepaid cards over credit cards, so this would work well for me, besides, other companies are doing it, too.
