Rezorrand By giving developers access to cloud saving API they could add support for multiplatform saves crossing platforms similar to what some are already doing with Steam/Switch or even PS4 (in some cases). This would give players more freedom to pick their platforms, and more leverage to GOG as well.

Midnightshade Add another vote for this. I own the game on switch, was going to buy it on GOG tonight as it's on sale, but now that I see the cross save is steam only, not double dipping if i can't continue. That was the whole reason to buy it again.

darknase Using Minigalaxy & Gamehub because GOG isn't capable of making their own client Linux capable. CloudSaves are a feature of the platform that while not good but sufficiently implemented (can anybody handle it as a "drive"? No; hence sufficiently), that's is being kept from *all* users by virtue of what client they choose.
As they GOG tell us here [1] in the FAQ:
"On top of that, GOG GALAXY 2.0 will remain your optional client for GOG.COM games ..." Futhermore: "Once we include all features available in the current version of GOG GALAXY client to the 2.0 version, we will update everyone to the GOG GALAXY 2.0 application."
So:
A) It's optional, and
B) you can't get Linux Client working
We are free to use whatever client we want. But that also means your API isn't a "state secret", and concerning this a freindly reminder that the Steam API, which YOU depend upon in your integration, is also OPEN.
