DOS versions of game for download
I'd like the option to download a clean no DOSBOX copy. Some of us have original IBM PC XT/AT physical machines and it would be nice to remove the install then copy files, step prior to transferring.
GOG installers are actually Inno Setup installers (https://jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php). On Linux you can simply use innoextract (https://constexpr.org/innoextract/) to extract the files. No need to install WINE or anything like that.
I had to vote for this. Not because I think anyone still uses Windows 98 or older but because DOSBox was released on so many platforms and a .zip with the original Files would allow to simply extract and run on all of those (without support and guarantee from GOG, obviously).
I'm currently working on extracting the DOS files of Theme Park on my Raspberry PI as I'm currently trying it out as a main maschine. Also I don't have a X86 system on hand so no Wine nor Windows to run the installer and no Mac. So far, I made not much progress, next is trying to extract the files directly out of the installer.
If you are on a non-Windows platform, you have to extract them on a windows box first, or use something like WINE to execute the binary GOG provides, if GOG provided the DOS binaries, resources etc in a separate download, it would be far more convenient. In addition, on my Windows boxen, I maintain my own DOSBox install, so I don't necessarily need the GOG ones, it's just a waste of space a lot of the time.
I know theres exe.But i want game as it was on floppy.
The original DOS executables are already inside the GOG version's DOSBox folder; it's how DOSBox runs the game to begin with.
