Don't lock content up as "pre-order bonuses"!

I could live with the exclusive pre-order DLC for Age of Wonders III, but I won't ever buy any game that locks up what would be "standard" content for most games (soundtracks, etc.) as "pre-order bonuses". I'm looking at you, Ether One.

If you want to give a pre-order bonus, make it a price discount. Even 5%. It doesn't take many extra sales to make up that revenue, and the whole point of offering a game for pre-order is to get guaranteed revenue while the game is still sight-unseen.

Locking up content that is offered "free" with almost every other game on the site is an ignorant slap in the face for those of us who would prefer to see if the game is actually good before forking over our money.

In the case of Ether One, it's an approach that has already turned away one sale, guaranteed.

I get really upset when I don't want to preorder a game because I don't want to buy it without reading reviews first (because it's a very bad thing to buy games without knowing what you are getting into) 99% of the time I'm severely disappointed when I preorder anything as it ends up having problems or hidden features I could not have been aware of that ruin the game experience. So for this reason, I never preorder games, so I always miss out on preorder locked content and I can never access that content so I have permanently missed out for being a careful and responsible customer. I think preorders are predatory because they lock customers in with promises of little goodies and prizes like the creepy candy guy with the creepy van from every horror movie, and then GOTCHA! you're paying for a game and you don't like it? "TOO BAD SO SAD! we got your money! hahaha!!!! enjoy your preorder bonus!"

Please just get rid of preorders all together, Yuck!

I'm on interested in the game but it's a shame if preorders get exclusive content. This is not something I'd expect from GOG. I like how they did it for The Witcher 3: I preordered and got Neverwinter Nights as a free game. That's a nice bonus to have, but I could also buy it separately if I wanted to. And it's of course totally seperate form The Witcher 3 itself.
