Do not get bought by Microsoft.
Microsoft is certainly NOT the "least egregious" option. Microsoft is obsessed with DRM and is one of the worst options. How many games from Microsoft/Xbox do we have here? One (Psychonauts 2), due to pre-existing obligations, before Microsoft acquired the studio. No fable, no Halo, no nothing.
At the same time, studios like Obsidian and Remedy, who have games here, cannot publish the games that were published by Microsoft. Where's Quantum Break? Where's Pentiment? Where's Grounded?
Microsoft should NEVER get their hands on GOG!
This is for sure the least egregious option for being bought out.
Xbox has been incredibly consumer focused. Game Pass is the best thing to happen to games in years.
Imagine if GoG's library was part of Game Pass?
Oh, and Ensemble Studios, who made the great Age of Empires games. Then they got bought by Microsoft, shortly afterwards defunct.
Look what happened to Rare, once one of the best developers ever and now they only make shitty games. Look at the Microsoft Store, which is by far the worst gaming platform (most expensive, horrible layout, confusing).

compared to all the other "don't get bought by"s, I think this one would do the least damage to GOG. Although it wouldn't be too great considering microsoft's reputation for not making drm free games.
Unfortunately they probably will and rename GOG as the Xbone store or something.
Microsoft is on the list of the "Repeat offenders" on defectivebydesign.org. Even if in theory they would let GOG stay intact, it would definitely damage the reputation of GOG/CDPR.
It's fine if they buy CDPR. Doubt they'll do anything to GOG and may release some of their PC games DRM free on it.
