Do not get bought by Epic Games.
Oh my god this is embarrassing
Exclusives are the only reason Epic has become what it is, they bought Psyonix, the creators of Rocket League, has a deal with Disney, but their phiosophy is much different than GOG, they only focus on modern games and such.
This is a stupid wish, not because I want gog to sell to epic (Which I Don't) but because this "wish" is outside of the realm of reality, Stick to requesting games, something they can work on doing for us, Asking for this sort of thing is not only childish but silly, our wishes like this wont pay their bills but requesting games that they can bring to gog that we in turn buy, do!
Wow you are so childish lol
Okay, but you see, Epic sucks because not all my games are on it. Also the client lags sometimes. And Fortnite bad. Is it so hard to understand ?
What ? Developer margins ? Industry monopoly ? Manufactured brand loyalty ? What are you talking about ?
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the way Epic tries to compete with other stores. The words "exclusive" and "timed exclusive" used to belong to console warrior land, and I certainly didn't want to see that brought into the PC gaming world, but here were are... Epic's launcher and store is still pretty bad. They don't want to compete by building a better product, they want to force people to go there if they want to play certain games (by throwing around a lot of Fortnite and Tencent cash). If this succeeds that would have seriously bad implications for PC gaming (every company with cash starts to do this, leading to a lot of fragmentation). I hope GOG stays away from this, and remains independent.
Steam and GOG for me, the rest can go F themselves.
Wrath-Amon: "EGS is better than Steam" - No it isn't. 2 years for a goddamn shopping cart. A liar as a CEO who keeps contradicting himself saying that they allow creators to sell their software the way they want and then when a small dev comes in and says they want their game to be on EGS and Steam they say "Nu uh, exclusive on EGS or fuck off". Look up the story behind the devs of Darq. Barebones software.

"Valve is greedy for taking 30%" - common claim, after 10 mio. revenue they take 25% and after 50 Mio. $ revenue they take 20%. Valve allows developers to create Steam keys to sell on their websites for a 0/100 split for the dev. Neither Apple, Google, Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo do this. Ohh but yes, EGS is "better than Steam". 0 features, while Steam has Family Sharing, excellent controller support, working offline mode, Remote Play, Workshop for mods and offers and the latest game festivals with hundreds of demos to play.

They have terrible security
Terrible customer service
Breaking EU laws constantly
You can't play games offline
Limited social features
No screenshots
No controller support
They are partially owned by Tencent (48%)
No achievements
Bugged Cloud Saves
No game forums
Epic make you pay the transaction fee when purchasing games in developing countries
They can refuse refunds even if you meet the criteria
No Userreviews
No Linux support (Tim Sweeney hates Linux)
Backwards stance as a company on competition

EGS -> worst possible take on competition, far behind their roadmaps, throwing money around instead of delivering features
GOG -> That's how you do competition and I love using GOG and Steam, offering features that Steam doesn't have.

Not even talking about how Epic is owned 48% by a chinese data giant and China usually sanctions such huge companies. ..
Love the Linux support, drm-free games which you really own :)
I just appreciate this awesome service and hope they stay for a long long time.
Just thanks
While I haven't heard any rumors about this, the thought is alarming. I've been a die-hard GOG fan for years . The moment I discovered I could buy many of my favorite games from my adolescence I was hooked. And while DRM-free was and is one of the--if not THE--primary reason I stay, you had me at Ultima IV...

I can't stress enough how vital Gog is to us; so, yeah, don't get bought by Epic.
please don't stop supporting mac os ports :)
These are reasons to worry about takeovers by bigger companies & big tech.
Shortly after Epic Games did buy Psyonix, Psyonix did discontinue the development of the MacOS and Linux / SteamOS versions of the Game Rocket League. Also, Psyonix did kill-off the online features for the MacOS and Linux / SteamOS versions of the Game. Tencent stock Epic for global(including China for some reasons) market and they have their own WeGame/ We Game X for Chinese casuals
I agree
That Valve seems to be leaking some Steam "community" again :(
While I certainly would prefer Epic Game Store over Steam (up yours to all the geopolitical keyboard warriors), staying independent is even better (for you and for us).
Where's the downvote button? I don't like it when mediums present a mechanism for positively reacting and no other.
*TENCENT*
Don't get bought by anyone!
Stay autonomous, independent and therefore free.
gog is a gem in an ocean of drm parasites.
-1
China is still better than trumpia.

+1. I will not give one cent to any company that is friendly to the chinese regime , so if GOG went that route, it's over for me as a customer!
But why is there so much concern about this? Has there been any information that would imply this will happen? We need to work to maintain the only DRM-free gaming platform left on the internet, and make sure they stick to their values.

Going for the Trifecta of non good will here? Honestly with whats going on in that part of the world, I would be hesitant to do any business dealings there considering what kind of game store GOG is. If you guys are falling over Devotion I hate to think what will happen next under Tencent. Remember your pillars gentlefolk.
Please do not sell out to China. China is evil.
People concerned about Epic Games buying GOG should be more concerned about GOG capitulating to the Chinese government that owns Epic.
Same as EA, not to Epic Games.
Keep GOG free of weasels.
The epic stealing of player information is not news.
Tencent owns 48.4% of Epic the shares,Tencent is CCP Support company .Did you knew?
Epic Games Store equals Tencent. Tencent equals datamining and contempt for gamers. They do not respect or revere games, they just give them away for free to catch casuals (who also happen NOT to love games) and all their acquaintances' data.

Don't ever (EVER) be like Epic Games, the equivalent of SOuth Parks' Chinpokomon.. Never show respect for Chinese b**ches like Tim Sweeney.
Epic is already a part of the gog store, so they've failed in that regard.
What if GOG bought Epic Games?
GOG is the only remaining platform for DRM free games. They are also doing pretty well for themselves. So I don't think there is any reason for them to sell themselves to Epic. However, a merger between Epic Game Store and GOG Galaxy 2.0 where they keep the best of both side will be very much welcomed by me. EGS' profit sharing practice to get more developers on board with GOG's DRM free practice, a big win for all gamers.
Epic Games Store is better than Steam.
I think CD Projekt has every reason not to sell their platform. As a developer and a publisher, they stand to make considerably more money by making and distributing their own games so I doubt this is something we need to worry about as long as they're actively developing games.

not epic games. They're the least customer friendly pc "store".
You guys are the complete opposite of epic and it's one of the reasons I shop here and will continue to shop here..
F- Epic, F- EA and F- UbiSoft.
@jlibster: yes, downloading all your offline installers to have a backup is a very good idea. You should do so if you want to make sure that your games stay DRM-free. GOG has started to sell DRM-ed EPIC-store games through Galaxy and they tolerate DRM on parts of single-player games. (No Man's Sky, Absolver) There is no guarantee anymore that they won't try again to push Galaxy on everyone by including it in the offline installers. As time progresses, Galaxy may also become more and more mandatory. They removed the alternative, the Downloader, after all. And they have showed that they have no qualms about selling DRM-ed games anymore. So yes, make a backup, using gogrepo or something similar.
Folks, I used to use 3 source for DRM free games: GOG, HumbleBundle and ShinyLoot. ShinyLoot is gone, and HumbleBundle doesn't really do much with Drm-free. There basically a Steam poster boy. The only quality deals I see without Ubisoft DRM or Steam clients required are book/audiobooks from their occasional bundles. I won't use any game with DRM embedded anymore; the tracking/data mining/spying really disturbs me. I used to ask my Kickstarter/fig.io games to be sent 50/50 to humblebundle/gog but in the last 1.5 years its GOG only.

Even when games are the same price, GOG is who I trust. I do not trust Epic Games. I've done reading and when I read some Epic Games may be DRM free (I'd obtain through a virtual machine and move to my DRM-free one) they said "good idea" which basically meant they had no interest in revealing which games had no DRM. So I won't touch them either. Their exclusive gaming deals already let a bad "fix the deck" taste in my mouth. I hope this forum is a joke, or is GOG considering selling out to Epic. Please say this is not the case. Maybe I should be downloading my ~1000 games I've purchased over the years before my terms of service get changed?

Point is, I've supported GOG over the years more than in the beginning as they appeared to be the only group besides itch.io (who is young) who does business in a way I feel confident with. In the age of selling out to big Corporate groups (mostly USA and China) we need people who believe in their mission and stick to it. I sincerely hope you stay as you have been so I can support you as I have.

GOG is the only place I know of where if you buy a game it's yours. No DRM or always online BS. If your internet goes out you can still play your single player games. Please GOG remain independent and pro-consumer. You guys are the best. Hope Cyberpunk smashes all the sales records and sets you guys up for a while.
I definitely Don't Want GOG to be bought out bye Epic Games, as Epic Games have set themselves so high up that they themselves think they are gods, well they aren't they are pure cancer to the gaming industry
I used to see this as a joke wishlist entry.
https://realestate-savaria.ca/properties-list-2/
I don´t a problem with Epic, but i really love the independence of GOG . I love the drm free games :)
Dear god *please* do not get bought. Epic Games is a cancer on the gaming industry and should be avoided at all costs.
Jesus, I didn't know I have to make this wish, but goddamn please.
