I play mostly on my SteamDeck and i been feeling this issue quite a bit, games like SWAT 4 / Hitman's / Splinter Cell don't have any support at all and others like Driver Parallel Lines that do have it but you need to struggle your way into the settings to enable it when it should be a default.

As a long time Deck user i will say that my experience with the Steam Input API has been just very broken / buggy / inconsistent to the point that i just give up and don't play at all so to me this is not an option.

It doesn't need to be pretty with button prompts and native analog, a Keyboard + Mouse Emulation would be decent enough as long as it let's me play the game from start to finish.
