Continued Windows XP Support
I've spoken to customer services about this a few times.
They make it quite clear that they don't give a damn.
They want Steams customers not their loyal older clients, which is ironic as they're sending me over to steam where I can actually play the games..
Best anti-customer DRM this year xD
Check this thread now www.gog.com/forum/general/what_is_wrong_with_the_xp_games/page1 .
I agree. GOG should not make support of older games contingent on them running on modern Windows systems, especially given Microsoft's poor record with backwards compatibility.
I would like to continue to play my retro games on my retro pc.
"Yes, absolutely I do indeed concur, wholeheartedly!" ;)
Windows XP compatibility should not even be necessary to be asked for here at Good OLD Games...
I definitley support this Request!
Greetings,
Franz
does this wish still need to be here?
WinXP is the most resource friendly and, due to it's long life, best supported "game launcher". I understand it when you don't want to spend the time to make new games WinXP compatible, but please don't drop the compatibility for games which already were running on WinXP.
Die XP Die!
I upgraded to Win7 a while ago, but two other computers in my home still run XP.
Haha. I love the irony of people wanting the continuation of WinXP support so they can play games in Linux. That made my day :)
I agree 100%!
I agree, but solely for Wine/ *offline* VM support.
Indeed! GOG please don't drop Win XP support.
I understand many of the newer titles won't run on such a system and that's fine, just please keep the support for this OS where possible.
Agreed. Not only does Windows XP support imply DirectX 9 support (which Wine needs since it doesn't do DirectX 10/11 yet) but Windows XP is the most efficient thing for me to run in VirtualBox when Wine fails for other reasons.
