Compatibility with Android devices
Gog could blow upwards in sale if they possibly added Android devices especially tablets is just a mini computer
This post on it was exactly what I was looking for. For more information, this link could be helpful: www.totecopy.com/

This would be a great idea. It would be great if the Android version modilimitado.io/en/games
included the PC one and viceversa, but I wouldn't mind buying a few select Android versions were that not to be the case.

I want this too, but as soon as GOG partnered with Microsoft, the meager support for the rival format, Android, evaporated. Microsoft seems to have strongarmed GOG into it, as they do with other partners. Pray they don't alter the deal further. This deal's getting worse, all the time....
Bring this feature and take my money. TAKE MY MONEY!
*insert Futurama's Fry "shut up and take my money" meme*
Very important storage issue: all games must be able to use the external SD card. All games must be able to use the EXTERNAL storage Android/data/obb and Android/data/gamefiles folders. It's best if apps download their data themselves, and we choose the download storage. This is crucial. By default, almost all apps/games put the obb files on the internal storage, and use the internal storage for data files in Android/data folders. Most games don't allow moving any files to the external SD card, but there are rare exceptions. With games like Icewind Dale, many users don't have internal storage space to get the game in the first place, and the Neverwinter Nights port has even bigger data files! And they all download only to the internal storage, no questions asked!
World Rally Fever runs fine on my Android phone and tablet! Just place the WRF.DAT and WRF.GOG files in you C drive folder and use imgmount d WRF.DAT -t iso, then run RALLY.EXE. I have particular success with aFreebox by Fishstix and in particular Magic DosBox by bruenor, where you can create game profiles to run the whole procedure automatically - just rename WRF.DAT to WRF.CUE and WRF.GOG to WRF.BIN for the app to recognize and use them. Full blown gamepad support any way I want. Only sound effects don't work, but it's a minor issue, music runs fine, graphics run good.
MoO 1 and BASS would be my first to try with dosbox turbo or scummvm.
But the business problem of supporting game ports for a zillion variations of mobile platforms would be nightmare for tech support, budget and market perception. It's a specialty business. I wouldnt want anything to drag gog down and this could easily mess up gog forever marketwise. Stick to desktops please.
Games I Crowntakers, Little Inferno, World of Goo, Tiny Keep, etc already have a native DRM-free Android version. I would love to see them on GOG too. :D
This would be AWESOME!
I would even pay extra for the Android versions.
This is a great direction! GOG team, please consider investing in it. This idea looks to have huge potential if done right.
Providing DosBox / ScummVM titles on Android (or even Android TV) seems doable, similar to what you've already done with Linux, *but* with the potential of reaching a much much wider audience!
There are native Android versions of games which I'd love to see here: Baldur's Gate EE and 2, The Banner Saga, Shadowrun Returns / Dragonfall, KOTOR, Broken Sword 1,2,5, Blackwell 1,2,3 and more.
These already have Android versions and I'd love it if they were sold DRM-free. Sure, the SCUMMVM and DosBox games would be good (and AGS, I'm currently playing Blackwell Deception on Android), but there are so many good games with native Android versions that it's a pity to see the relegated to Google Play or the Amazon app store.
I'm sure you are working on this (If those games on “comeback” gifts supported on Android, i would buy them ALL! ^_^.) but i want to make a couple of suggestions:
-Some old games support both gamepad & keyboards. You should integrate “Controller” as a different component on each games apk's. This probably will ensure more stability on different mobile platforms like iOS, Android, W8.
- You should integrate translation support by volunteers for all best seller games. When it comes to games, it's especially hard to find a quality scenario on application markets. If you add translation support via an online page (line by line) or a GOG translator crew (i'm up for Turkish!) for each language; i'm sure that you will get LOTS OF THANKS! (Also money.. ^-^)
- Touch support is the hardest one to accomplish on mobile controls so you should focus on gamepad and keyboard-mouse support.
- Only "above 4.0.1" (or 4.1) should be supported on Android. I learned in time that apps will be much more stable & fast when it only supports ICS&JB.
Alpha centauri on android would be F-ing awesome. I know it's not going to happen, but still.
@viranimus - There's already DOSBox and ScummVM for Android, so for some it will be very little work.
With GOGs support of indie games, and with many of these indie games like Waking mars, Machninarium which are already offered by GOG it would be logical to offer Android support as these games already have android incarnations and would be little more than mirroring or hosting download location for the APKs. The notion of extending it to old school and existing games is kinda meh, and would not be worth the effort involved, but when the effort is so nominal for what already exists it would be in the organizations best interest and help them to expand and further reach out to gaming circles.
Also some games (like for example the first two Broken Sword remastered games) had an Android version. It would be great if we could download the Android version along with the PC.
This would be a great idea. It would be great if the Android version included the PC one and viceversa, but I wouldn't mind buying a few select Android versions were that not to be the case.
lol. What for? There are thousands of websites with android apps for free download. I say: No. Let the GOG stay PC-centric. No need for trash here.
Android would be the perfect platform for mobile GoG games thanks to the ability of being able to install Apps from unknown sources. Also, there are so,e apps that are available on both the Play store and GoG, such as Machnarium and Another World.
Recently picked up a new Android tablet, and while looking for games to put on it to kill down time I had a friend suggest just throwing DOS-Box on and enjoying classics. Thought that sounded like a great idea, as I already own a few DOS-Box games from here, along with ancient copies from way back when. Came on the site today to add some more to my collection and realized that it was hard to sort out which games may actually have a chance of working for me. Even just making it more clear which games are run through dos-box, or even being able to search by that feature would be very helpful. Stuff from the early to mid 90s can often be in that weird grey period due to the whole transition era as everyone moved to native windows development.
Now this would be awesome! To be able to unzip a file, push the directory to the android device, and play a nice adventure game there :)
