Bring back the original GOG Downloader client
Bring that boi back!
@TrueDosGamer: This is why, imo, it is very important that GOG continues (and should increase) its support for Linux. Because it seems that increasingly Linux (with Wine/Proton) is a better platform for playing older Windows games than newer versions of Windows.
Many reasons why GOG has somehow de-evolved. What once worked fine with XP and would have been a great site for XP multiplayer gaming since XP has not become the legacy OS of nostalgia and still functional on modern day Coffee Lake systems if you're advanced enough to try. It's a shame GOG has basically left behind those users which is what set itself apart from Steam. Making a GOG galaxy client no longer functional as an excuse that Chrome doesn't support XP is pure BS. Advanced Chrome supports XP making it highly compatible. Also you will find in 2020 and later that XP nostalgia will be an all time high and many will be flooding to play XP based games and the fact that their client no longer supports XP basically makes GOG useless for XP multiplayer gaming. The next deathblow is Windows 7 since they are adopting a Windows 8+ stance now.
Playing empire earth again with my brother. We noticed we couldn't get the multiplayer working through gog galaxy and only worked when we downloaded the game normally. Lucky we both could download it fine. At this rate not much difference from using steam. I came to this site for a reason. To escape DRM that are forced down our throats. Didn't take you long to start becoming them.
There are still many classic gamers on Windows XP (I have to use it on my work machine, that I also game on). Downloader works just fine on XP, whereas Galaxy is not supported anylonger on XP. GOG doesn't have to keep supporting the Downloader, but there is no reason to completely disable it like they just did.
I concur with EvilDoc's suggestions and would prefer to have both clients functional then let the users which of these two to use in downloading their games. Plus this would somehow slightly help GOG Galaxy as it won't be over flooded with users slowing down the service downloading as people will be able to choose two different downloader clients.
