Add many more classic children's games
Quality educational software for kids simply doesn't exist any more. We need these classics.
Heck yeah! I wish I could share in the experience of some of my childhood games with my nephew's. Games like Lego Island, Tonka Construction, Lionel Train Town, And etc. Man, what I'd give to play games like those again on a modern PC.
Between TLC, Maxis, Sierra, MECC, and Humongous, we've only been blessed with the re-release of Humongous titles. While Maxis falls under EA and Sierra falls under Activision, MECC/TLC could absolutely see a resurgence. The Super Solvers series (Gizmos and Gadgets my personal favorite), Math Munchers Deluxe, Sim Ant/Copter/Tower, Pepper's Adventure's in Time, Cluefinders....
These games should be available for kids to enjoy today. If not for the fact that learning/education games are made in relatively poor quality nowadays.
I would love some kids games. 7yo Grandchild loves "Witches Pranks: Frogs Fortune" & I don't even know where to go for others that are similar, or what others are playing.
I personally play RPG's/ Hidden Object & World of Warcraft but I am at a loss as to where to go & I don't even have media for the DOS games from my early days :D
hell yes. I would LOVE to go through the super solvers games again. especially Ancient Empires.
I'll throw in some more: Museum Madness, SuperSolvers games (including Operation Neptune), DroidWorks...
This must be voted ;D plus make a lot of translations available (sometimes childs doesnt have a second language) so the "language barrier" wont cut off them to play classics and keep learning positive things ;D
This is a great idea. These kinds of games were the start of my PC gaming lifestyle, and now that I have younger ones around me also learning to use the computer, I'd really love to pass stuff like this along to them.
Excellent idea. While I'll be the first to admit the "kid's edu-tainment" genre contains a lot of awful shovelware, there were plenty of diamonds in the rough that are more than deserving of being called Good Old Games.
Great idea! Back in the day my sister and I liked Exile: Crystal Souls, Taskmaker, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Goldfields (not sure if that is the full name) - all for Mac in the mid 1990s. I'd love to see some of them on here again!
@Anubis: I completely agree about the soundtracks; I actually found a tool online (on the Lucas Forums) to extract the music from the .he4 files. Most of the songs are only :30 - 2:30, but the nostalgia is awesome.
Having played some of these as a wee lass in the early 90s, I think this is an excellent idea. Future children should grow up with some actually good kid's games. Also, include Word Munchers!
Put-Put!
Zoombinis!
I would absolutely buy something like Put-Put or Pajama Sam, especially if they came with the soundtracks (been putting together a Jeremy Soule playlist for when Guild Wars 2 releases).
Excellent, voting this one up. I bet a lot of GOGians (GOGgers? GOGites?) are older folks and some of them are having children of their own.
