A Legal Way to Purchas ROMs

It's no secret that emulation is incredibly popular among us who absolutely love classic gaming. But while the emulators themselves (excluding those that require a BIOS) are in themselves legal to use, there is still no legal way to purchase classic ROMs for them. And because I am pretty sure everyone using this website would agree that Nintendo's Virtual Console is far from an ideal DRM free option, I am requesting that GOG open a ROM store.

Heck, I'd argue that if an emulator could be polished up for it, the N64 version of Resident Evil 2 could be better than the GOG version. Granted it might not have extreme battle mode and modding capabilities, but the improved movement options are a big upgrade compared to the tank controls.

I think it is a wasted opportunity not selling ROMs that people can legally purchase. And it would be another differentiator from other stores. There are thousands upon thousands of games across many platforms that could be making money.

You could then sponsor some of the proceedings for the emulators, as that would be required to make the ROMs market viable. I'm sure the same way you do with DOSBox.

I am sure there are a lot of companies that would love to sell their old games legally. If they do it in ROM format, they won't even have to integrate the game.
Offering a way to legally purchase ROMs feels like the most sensible thing to do. With the countless thousands of games out there in the world, I believe everyone wins. Customers can purchase and support the original developers/publishers, and in return they earn money without much work.
Otherwise they are just refusing money and welcoming piracy!

Aren't the current offline installers essentially the same thing? That is except the games wrapped in an emulator like dosbox or scummvm. The core game separate from dosbox/scummvm is already a request, quite a few I think.
