A decent game shelf
On that 'flashgame'..
Clickable bookshelves..
A maxmum of one shelf per 10 bought games on here ?
(to prevent A$$ets to make ur life hard..)
Maybe you know people having a knack for flash games ?
Simple flash game view /w fullscreen ?
LOL
Hmm..that might help, then again, for my old collection I had a "stuff it in there when it fits it's stored ok" policy..
And yes, that lead me to use crates..to stack the actual shelves upon, with software in them..leading to 2 wallas being covered with crates and shelveing systems being crammed to to the ceiling with DVD size boxes..
Sometimes even repacked from the original package..leading to even more crates under the bed with the original flattened boxes and manuals and original content etc..
And yes..even so, I was running out of storage places..
Where most people would have a wall with every DVD?CD box facing towards the room, so you could easily pick out something, I had to make them all facing with only it's side..
When before last I moved I had it all on a pallet once..
Yes..big fat pallet..
In any case, doing re-arranging like this is much easier..
just bubble up..
Maybe a drawer system would be nice..
Maps ?? That would be very usefull..
Maybe they can look like openable bookshelfs ?
Yes please let us make our own categories and sort by those! The 'other guys' - the Evil Empire if you will - have this option and it's extremely helpful. When I'm looking for what game to install next, I want to search for the type of game (FPS, RPG, etc.) rather than by title or purchase date. Thanks for your consideration, GOG!
I'd be happy with a few more themes. The woodgrain is tacky and the dark is too dark.
At least let us select colours from a pallette. I'd really like a nice soft white theme to match my RL shelves.
Folders, boxers, chests, crates, something.
You have to face idiots like me who already bought about half of your available games, and often I just cannot find the one I'm looking for
I would like a shelf where you can create your own categories (headers) and drag and drop (and mark) titles to these categories. Also what categories are shown (hiding for instance your own Played category).
Something I would like is for the shelf to do is always tell us how many games (or purchases, in the case of purchases like Tropico which is Tropico 1 and 2 bundled together or the Might and Magic six pack which is obviously the first six games) you have on GOG. Right now it only displays that number if you've recently gotten an update to one of your games.
To be honest, I'm happy if the shelf games are sorted in alphabetical order by default.
Just fixing the sort by "purchase date" would be a start.
+1
Specifically I'd like to see sorting by release date and installer download size. Additionally, grouping by developer/publisher, genre, and series (for games that are in a series) would be a very welcome option.
Someone brought up system requirements. It'd be really cool if there was something like "can you run it" (I know there is some sort of API since I've seen it used by other companies) that would detect compatibility. However, I don't think that will happen any time soon, so instead I'd just want something that says if a game will work on [insert mobile chipset here]/Intel HD graphics (yes my laptop isn't very gaming friendly).

Definitely would be good to update the shelf and collection management. It's functional, but only functional.
As someone else said: Collections + Shelves
Collections to do game lists by themes for example, and shelves just to put our games in the order we like better by genre, year, pc-requirements, completed, single player, etc, etc.
After 431 games on my shelf, my firefox is having trouble loading my shelf, I really NEED an option to load it in pages of 100 or 50 games, PLEASE GOG! I like you guys much more than steam but this is becoming a trouble to load my games
i'd like to have at least the sorting options that are available when searching a game in the catalog (multiplayer, search by name, adventure, rpg,...)
My game shelf is pretty small and I'm already wishing for better options. Once I've got more games on it I'll be really fiending for a better shelf.
Another way to sort it hopefully is based on system requirements. (DosBox, low end computer, high end computer, etc).
A big one would be requirements for via video card, I've recently got myself a Saffire Raedon 6970 for a gaming system, and games look awesome on it, however a lot of games don't require such beefy hardware as well as I don't use only the gaming rig for gaming. Simple hardware/rendering vs more complex options could be sortable that way; Although most of GoG's games don't require more than what a 5 year-old computer offers.
I am amazed that there not more votes for this excellent suggestion, seeing that a lot of forum posters now have upward of 200 games.
I would be happy just having the empty box option back. Sorting would still be slow, but I could at least get my shelf organized how I want again.
I like the look of the current shelf, but manually organizing is a bit buggy, and more sorting options would be nice. I'd also like to see a "You own X games" somewhere on the page so I don't have to count them.
I'd like to see it like:
- More sort-options (genre, original release date, rating, my rating)
- Show my rating and my review of the game
- Custom (personal) tags, to create collections and mark game as completed or what ever
The manual sort is just too limited for managing your collection. And creating GOGmixes isn't suited for and not usable for managing your collection.
I would really like to be able to manually sort the hidden games: the ideal would be being able to create categories and move items to them, AND manually sort them.
They used to let you put space between the games, now they don't and it sucks completely (before it was at least manageable.) It definitely needs upgraded!
I'd love tag cloud capability, but for short term improvement the genre per tab sorting would be great for now. GoG basically has it already. They just need to copy that feature from the shop to the shelf. Can't be that hard, since the database already contains the links and even the tabs have been already made.
@ "delique" & "bushwhacker2k" The part you want actually ties in with my idea (Please read the comments explanation before dismissing the idea) : www.gog.com/en/wishlist/site/steam_like_client_program_for_gog_drm_free_games_and_bonus_content ( Steam like Client program for GOG DRM free games and bonus content !!! )
I would also like to have option to make public link to my game shelf, so that I could show my friends which games I own.
I think this ties in with a GOG-interface that would be awesome for sorting games and something like GOG-chat. Organization and convenience ftw.
Collections + Shelves. Being able to create collections and give those collections their own shelf within your account would be a very nice touch. I would also be nice to allow wish-listed games within that collection to be displayed on the shelf as well (with an appropriate "wish" marking). I really enjoy collecting and I usually focus on one theme at a time, it would be very enjoyable to easily check which games in a given genre/type I have yet to purchase. Or to be able to add a collection from GoG as a shelf and work towards filling out the any gaps :)
I'd like to be able to mark which games are installed at the moment, too. Doesn't need to be able to scan my computer or keep track in the downloader/uninstall, just some manner or marking. That makes it all fit under this wish.
I also miss the "empty slot" option. That was at least one way to sort games, by (as mentioned by gakkun) having one type of game on each shelf. Even better would be to bring something like multiple shelves (with shelf names). In addition, tagging games would make things easier, but personally, I put my vote mainly on better shelf handling.
@tithin, Sideways gameboxes is a brilliant idea. That comment got my vote.
I'd personally like to see us being able to turn the game boxes "sideways" so as we can 1) tidy the shelf and 2) fit more things in. Clicking on any bookend will bring out the whole box including extras etc.
Any addition to a higher user customization of "The GOG Experience" should always be welcome - suggestions like yours included...
Love the recent update to the game shelves but I would like the ability to have empty slots back. It was nice having shelves for just Fallout, Zork, etc.
I wish it was a little more stream lined it looks alot like origins clunky interface.
I'd just like to have the games broken up into multiple pages. My computer isn't a piece of junk, but it's not exactly top of the line either, so trying to load 100+ games at once kinda slows it down. And if the pages could be divided by alphabet to make things easier to find, that'd be even better.
I second multi tags (custom), dividers and/or empty spaces, and I would also like more size options for the "boxes" within the "shelf".
being the possessor of about 120 gog games i really NEED a better shelf... my dream is a multi tag(custom too)/sorting/views and/or multi manually costumizable shelves. i would like to divide games in many categories, like finished, interrupted to retry, too bad to play again, in the next to play. being a linux only player, mark games as unable to play on linux, easily playable, somewhat playable etc (maybe a sharable opinion) and certainly sort/select by genre etc... the easiest way should be the possibility to tag any game with many standard and custom tags, then make the possibility to make searches analogues to the one in the "browse games" section of the site+tags AND to save some of this search as views
It might seem a little harsh but people have been asking for a long time and a fairly big deal was made about the site being redone and improved but little to no improvements have been made concerning the game shelf. It's functional at the moment but GOG has done a lot to market itself to collector's and a lot of us have large collections we'd like to better organise.
Voted. I only think that the title "A decent game shelf" is a little too harsh D: Great ideas nevertheless.
I would be satisfied if I would get a more easy way to manage my entries by hand.
+1. Especially like the "completed" option to grey out, or somehow let your completed/un-completed games stand out. But, all the ideas sound great.
