MojoPain Been trying all day to get my old CD version of the game to work. I've used the patch and fixes but still nothing. So +1 for wanting the game on GOG in a workable state.

CountDrDRock Growing up my dad and I had a nightly ritual where we played through about 30 minutes of this game before I went to bed, and while he pretty much controlled all the characters, I got to name them all. The adventures of Tigger the tiger man, Loompy the elephant and Thin Lizzy the lizard man (because it was my dads favourite band) are some of my fondest memories of time i spent with my dad. Our copy of the game appears to be lost to time sadly, but it would be awesome to be able to relive some of the memories that kinda got me into gaming in the first place.
Lysanafae It's a great game, if somewhat bogged down by the multiplayer handling (guilds & quests) of a singleplayer party. I have managed to get it working with only two flaws left after following the instructions from Christian Coder's site and messing around with ingame options.
One: the gui flashes every once in a while, and two: a rotating column moves too slowly unless switching between ui panels. GoG and their awesome tech crew may be the key to getting this old game to run flawlessly on our newer hardware today, and introduce this game to many who missed out on its charm.
Even with the above downsides, it is a fantastic game for many reasons. The areas are vast enough to feel like true exploration, but not so vast that it stalls gameplay. There are enough quests to push the player to almost all corners of the map. The dungeons are a good size, but not so big as to lose the player's interest. There are various puzzles, but they all felt readily solvable without a walkthrough (this coming from a player who never touched the game until 2012 or so). There's some unique playable races I've never seen in another game. The party creation allows for great variety, making it a true rival to Wizardry 8's vast amount of customization. And, much like Wizardry 8, the player may successfully complete the game with a party comprised of only one character. The game is so open-ended, that some seemingly-critical, unavoidable steps of the main quest can be completely, creatively avoided. In fact, the player can leave the McGuffin behind, and still complete the game! There's many distinct ways to "trick" the main quest, thinking "hah, I've surely broken it now", only to find that the game still continues without error, and in fact has a specific way to cope with your nefarious plot to unhinge the story. And even after playing through the game seven times, there were still a few surprises. Mainly in the form of extremely rare enemies (a flying red dragon), but also in dialogue via specific keywords (along with an early encounter easter egg for those who have completed the game).
I truly regret waiting so long to play this game, not only because it is difficult to set up just right on current hardware, but also because there's no longer a place to discuss some as-yet-unknown aspects. To this day, there are a few mysteries in the game. How does one acquire those hidden traits, or get the darkened version of Kerah's statuette? What could one do with that statuette once acquiring it, and could it possibly be a way to unlock one of said traits? The list goes on...
fool1977 I'm playing the Wizardry 6-7-8 trilogy and would love to play D.W. Bradley's Wizards and Warriors, essentially his answer to Wizardry 8. His games just have a certain atmosphere and vibe that I love.

Xeria If you still have the original discs, you may be able to get WnW to run on your system. Thanks to RPG Codex and user Great Deceiver, I have been playing WnW for the past 3 days on my Win 10 64bit rig. The only issues I've noticed (very minor IMO) are funny looking NPC eyes, the game froze on load a couple of times, one time the characters backgrounds turned white and I think that's it. Not too bad for the many hours I've already put in. I'm currently at Dragonspire so, hopefully, the rest of the game will run this smoothly until completion. I've not been able to play this game for years so you can imagine my delight. Check out the link below. The very first post tells you how to do it and even provides download links for the patches & dgVoodoo. I hope this helps someone. It sure helped me!! Oh, and I'd still buy it from GoG if they every release it. You hear that GoG?

darktjm I owned the game, but it died in a fire (along with all my other games). GoG could replace it, as it has for many games, but unfortunately, it can't replace the pewter wizard and warrior miniatures that came with the game... <sigh>

HouseKoumoray The game itself has great content and in my opinion an unrivaled interpretation of the first person party gameplay experience. Though Wizardry 8 did something similar, it is plagued by the slog of turn-based movement in a 3D environment. Heuristic Park's answer was to make the game real time right up until the moment it would be frustrating for it to remain that way, i.e. when you're engaged with the enemy. This way, the atmosphere of the game is never broken by a transition to a separate battle system, even though turn-based rules are applied in the background. However, the game was crippled not only by compatibility issues, as have been discussed at length here, but its own internal bugs, many of which were the result of its unusual implementation of a persistent world. Though I overcame the hurdles required to run the game, I was quite literally thwarted from completing the game on multiple playthroughs by the disappearance of essential items. This problem would not be a problem at all had they made the world reset when you begin a new game, but D. W. Bradley, being the revolutionary that he is, wanted an authentic adventure experience wherein multiple parties of heroes would run the gauntlet, and thus could find the gear of their fallen predecessors. Unfortunately, the studio that made the game could not evidently deliver on this vision in a flawless manner, and any glitch in this system necessarily becomes game-breaking when you let the player put obstacles in his own path after the death of his party. There was, I believe, a function in the game that was intended to manually reset the world, but it quite frankly did not work. In fact, to restore the world to its original state, I found there was no solution but to uninstall the game entirely, and even this failed me at times due, I assume, to registers in Windows that are not removed. The other bugs in this game are not, in my estimation, worth the effort of patching out, and I think any of the gentlemen who would likely purchase a rerelease of the game would begrudge them very little, or perhaps even find them endearing. However, this evil tendency in the game to foil your efforts at seeing it through to its end must be patched out, uncompromisingly. This persistent world system seems to me a gimmick that could not be fully realized and ought to be removed, if possible, or at least fixed so that the reset button actually resets the world.
eltesco I would love to purchase this game again. I played this back in my Windows 98 era! Sadly never finished it! Some years later I decided to play it again. Unfortunately it had compatibility issues with even Windows XP! To play this now-days you need to find an old pentium 4 with win 98 installed which is a pain!

(at least in Windows 7 64) Get the latest dgVoodoo2 which is WIP31 here: >>>https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=51790&start=40#p566288<<< Copy "dgVoodooCpl.exe" and the three files in the MS folder of dgVoodoo to the root folder of the game. Run the dgVoodoo exe and make sure to uncheck "Fast video memory access" under the DirectX tab and change "Output API" to "Direct3D 11 (feature level 10.0)" under the general tab. Try running the game now and see if those problems don't go away.

I tried the dgvoodoo guide, but on my machine there is still the problem with no character portraits in the left corner or i have character portraits but white background. But yes you are right, it is better than nothing but still not what this game deserves sadly.
LiqMat @Toastman23 Perfect in the sense I am able to run it now on my modern machine exactly as it ran on my 2001 PC. The game had many issues at release for sure. I am just happy to get it running without any graphical corruption and crashes are very minimal for me. I also would still love to see a GOG release of this for sure.
Toastman23 @LiqMat Perfect is maybe a bit exaggerated. Even with dgvoodoo there are still a lot of problems. This game realy needs a rerelease which try to fix most of the problems.

Xeria I still have hope. The work GOG puts into bringing back old games, some with incredible enhancements, is astounding. GOG's work and dedication has allowed me to relive precious gaming memories when I played iconic titles with my friends. I don't know how much of a task it would be for GOG to make it happen, but I'd be willing to bet, it would be a huge seller. I would love to be able to play this wonderful game again.
