Some friends showed it to me when it was released. I always wanted to play it, but never had the chance to do so.
I played this when it came out and loved it! I'd love to see it on GoG!
This game was (and still is) a largely uniscovered gem in the pile of early PC combat simulation games. While its graphics are as dated as any game from the early 90's, the game mechanics and playability are excellent, and as far as I can tell, this is the game that introduced the concept of requiring the player to construct a "net" to enable them to build and operate in a specific area. Of course more recent (and far more well-known) RTS games like the STARCRAFT franchise borrow the idea and use it with excellent results.
I have a good re-release copy of the game on CD, but it is still a struggle to get it working in DOSbox. I'd LOVE to see the GOG team
Refurb this bad boy to tune the engine, remove the dents and polish the paint-job! I can huarantee them 3 copies sold: 1 for me, and a copy for both of my sons. But, you know, ME first!
I remember when i played the demo version on a 486 PC. It was slow as hell, but the graphics where impressive. It was 1992 or 1993 when i played the demo on the PC from my Grandfather. Good Times. Would buy full prize, so please novalogic, release this game! I know the game under the name xenobots btw.
+1 needs more love
OMG, I was so addicted to this game XD I'd love to see it alive again.
I spent many, many hours playing this game. The combat was awesome and the strategy was unriveled. I really miss this game.
I loved this game! It was MechWarrior before MechWarrior existed!
I loved this game, i'd use my joystick to move and shoot and the mouse to click all the buttons inside the mech. The damage system in this game was awsome the medium mech could take a lot of damage, you could lose abilities like radar, night vision, map, weapons, life support,ECM,and cloak on the light mech. I really miss that because games now days you lose shields and hull boring... please bring this back.
The game was also released under the name Xenobots.
A voting thread of this game under the other name is available here: www.gog.com/wishlist/games/xenobots
Is very hard to get this game working. But loved the simulation and different types of robots/vehicles.
I had real problems getting this game to work, need a boot disk. I am sure GOG could do this one justice!
Great real-time tactial robot warfare. For some reason this gem passed sadly undetected back in 1993.
I loved this game as a kid. It had the craziest box marketing in the store. Here's a pic to illustrate, farm4.static.flickr.com/3367/3326870978_8245c539e3.jpg. Note that the cylindrical section allowed the two halves of the box to separate and come together. It was unique. Anyway, as a young kid that box caught my attention and made me want the game but playing it was actually a lot of fun. It's was actually kind of a unique game in its own right allowing you to pilot 3 different types of craft. Humanoid, Scout, and Scorpion. The goal was to destroy the enemy base. The scout had light weapons and was very fast. The humanoid had balanced weapons and medium speed and the scorpion had tactical nukes and was very very slow. I have fond memories of the game and just threw the floppies out in the last year since I didn't have anything to read them with and didn't want to bother with trying to get the game working. Would be happy to get it again on GOG.
