TORNADO (DIGITAL INTEGRATION)
Guess they forgot about GOG?
No the Steam version runs like a dream
Bet there's issues actually running the Steam version.......
Soon. The game is on Steam and Epic names now.
When?
A great simulator

Posted a comment 2017... now we have 2022. It's f crazy that one of the most important flight sims is not here yet. My kid grew up, lots of stuff changed and this here... completely unchanged because mainstream titles get voted like crazy while gems like this here... stay in their shadows forever.
FFS!
GoG is very selective, clearly. They are only putting in effort on money earners now.
Tornado and Falcon 3 are still the best of their era. I too like others have mentioned, have the original manual, floppy and CD-ROM versions.
Chuck in EF2000 and I would die a happy man. But I doubt it will ever happen now in this day and age of “keeping the hatches down”. Sad but true
Dude - this is insanely cool! Frankie, I just found out about this and am really interested and excited to see what happens next. I really want to get my new Linux machine up and ready for flight sims at some point, and the DOS programs are great as they basically let you go cross-platform. That said, if you can poke the IP owners to make sure they release a product that's Linux-ready out-of-the box, that would be perfect! Had to make a note of this as Fleet Defender will take a bit of finagling to make ready on my machine (when I get around to it, of course).
...I'm still reading your modding progress over on your forums - are there any plans to improve the default resolution? The greatest crux for the old sims is that they're so low-res. It's a shame too, as the models are often very charming, and often a lot more detailed than one would expect. Of all my old flight sims, Hornet 2.0 is probably the one that comes to mind as aging the best - normally supports up to 1024 x 768 resolution (there were greater resolutions available if you had a HUGE monitor, which some Macs did for industry purposes, and 2.0 was a Mac sim, so...) with a GREAT draw distance. Flying is a good deal about seeing, of course! If there's some way to work on improving the resolution and draw distance of the sim without damaging its charm, please look into that!
Tornado is still going strong. If anyone who has played this military simulation back in the 1990s, you will be pleased to hear that Tornado is alive and well at dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/board,50.0.html
Even better, as of 23rd April 2021, I have modified it in up to 187 different ways. As can be seen in the Modding Tornado thread in the given link.
Cheers

No list of Good Old Games can be complete without Tornado from Digital Integration. This is _still_ a great military flight simulator today. Please add it.
GOG, please do make Tornado available! :-)
A gog update for tornado with the community mods thrown in would be ace.
Until DCS gets a Dynamic Campaign - this will have to do. I recently bought the big box version on ebay, complete with 3 1/2" floppies, a whopping 330(!) page manual, maps and key reference cards. They don't make 'em like that any more. :(
Lets start off 2020 with a bang GOG, add Tornado.
untermenschen is right...where are the real classics like this great flightsim from the beginnings?
would like to see this on here too, great game one of the best sims ever really. does GOG really even put out old games still? they seem more and more just a repeat of steam
Still waiting for Tornado...;/
Sure I vote for it too. I'll buy it (again) right away.
Why hasn't this happened yet?! I vote for this to be released on GOG.
Please GOG!
Update, 10th May 2018. Hi GOG, please release the No.1 flight simulation. 2018 is its 25th Anniversary and would be great to see it released again for modern systems. I still play it today.
Update, 10th April 2018. I've documented the 50th mod for this venerable flight simulator. Check out: dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5046.0.html
C'mon GOG, please get in touch with Herve Caen of Interplay to work out the details of who owns the rights to Tornado. Cheers.
Hi GOG. please check out the "Modding Tornado" thread on the Dogs Of War Virtual Unit forums. dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5046.0.html
Tha is nearly 30 mods in five months. So what does this prove? It proves that this game is well and alive in 2017...2018! what are you waiting for? Get in touch with Herve Caen and see if you can't reboot this fantastic classic flight simulator. it really has no equal when it comes to planning a coordinated multi-strike mission.
I vote for it! Is an amazing simulation and all he extras will make a perfect purchase for any flight simmer!
Unbelievable that Tornado + Operation Desert Storm is still not available here. From DI there is HIND, F-16 and the F/A-18E here, so what's the problem with Tornado?
Even the oldest Falcon's are at the store. GOG c'mon. It's already a niche. What Tornado contains within a few megabytes will suprise most guys, because what they are going to experience is never to be seen elsewhere again in those recent and... sadly "sterile" virtual sim worlds. (I have and fly them all.) The material delivered in Tornado (manuals, maps etc.) are state of the art. That is a REAL GOG. I would even say recent despite it's graphics because Tornado still is what nobody was able to reacreate in other sims.
Just check out some videos and good lord.... just one last time: stop only watching votes on some mainstream games from the past and look for the real jewels.
Checkout Moodurian's Tornado page stuffed with so much content... just an unbelievable work. A modern webpage with a great classic, looks very noble: <a href="http://www.moodurian.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
www.moodurian.com</a>
Despite that, I started streaming and uploading videos of various old sims (mixed with recent stuff in the future) in: <a href="http://www.twitter.com/tertius_oculus" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />

(Curator in Steam in group tertius_oculus and uploading some screenshots of Tornado too and other sims).
Greetings,

I actually have the original manual and the game on CD-ROM. I really miss manuals like the one for Tornado. They just don't make manuals like that anymore. Do you guys remember the original manual to Falcon 3? I have the original of that in the original retail box as well. C'mon GOG! this seems like the perfect opportunity!
GOG, please know that the 16-bit assembly language source code to Tornado is alive and well. It is currently in the hands of two persons - the original programmer and I. The C++ front-end source code, however, is more elusive. Anyway, the IP and game rights are now owned by Interplay. Interplay is ready to create a work-for-hire agreement to any developer or individual who is willing to enhance the original game, in view of future release on GOG. The problem is finding anyone with 16-bit and 32-bit x86 assembly language programming knowledge, willing to spend TIME to enhance this classic ground-pounding flight sim. In the event that no enhancements occur, the game itself, with the Operation Desert Storm add-on, is begging for a GOG release. There are also numerous third-party mods written for the game by individuals. Most, if not all, of the mods were released during Tornado's heyday, but they are still playable today. Tornado runs perfectly in DOSBox. C'mon GOG, you already have DI's Hind, Apache Longbow and Superhornet. The missing Tornado sticks out like a sore thumb. Why not add Tornado to the stable as well? For more information, please check out my Tornado Tribute website at Moodurian slash Tornado.
Wholeheartedly supporting this request!
Tornado is one of the best flight simulation ever, now that we have Falcon on GOG we do need Tornado, with its expansion Desert Storm, of course!
GOG please bring this classic DOS game to the modern masses. The mission planner is unmatched. 23 years have gone by and there is still no other low-level mud-moving game like this. To whet your appetite do drop by my Digital Integration Tornado tribute website.
As much as I want this from GOG, I'd also love to see this done on DCS.
This definitely needs to be released. I still have the manual and floppy disks. I can't really claim that about any other game/sim.
Welp, GOG just gave us the Falcon series so maybe they'll give us Tornado next!
This was the definitive ground attack sim... nothing has come close to it since, even with today's amazing graphics and compute power. Its such a shame that the flight sim community and simulations in general has died as a genre.
Hey GOC, have you even looked at this thread? I see you have done HIND, but TORNADO is even better. Would you at least post here to say what the chances are of you looking at the game, or if there are any problems??
Kim
I loved this game so much that I bought the original version (US import) to get the manual to this game. The mission planning and the bombing modes that were modeled in this game are awesome. I should fire that baby up again. But if it was released here I definitely buy it.
Bring back this game, please?
I'd agree TORNADO was one of the best of the "golden age" of PC flight sims. The major hook was the mission planning, I'd spend 45 minutes planning a ten minute mission. Even the RAF used the game as an introductory-level tool for trainee pilots to plan missions.
PLEASE bring us this sim.
And please include the Operation Desert Storm add-on. www.mobygames.com/game/tornado-operation-desert-storm_
apart from falcon this was the most intensive dynamic experience as far as flight sims go, this had the edge i feel low level strikes of power stations, petrol refinerys etc to put a throttle hold on the enemies advance
