Bought the gog version to try it and it worked. Advantages: a second campaign, a new race: Vikings, all races playable in freeplay mode, several new warnings in the game, for low resources and traffic jams, button 'recruit soldiers here' in storehouses to quickly adjust the flow of weapons and beer, gold coins are standard off at new military buildings for better control. kardaw So the Vikings expansion came out in different languages except English. But with installing mods and unofficial translations there should be no problems for playing in English. As someone mentioned The Settlers 2 10th Anniversary is incomplete with this Add-On. Some inherited bugs from S2 have been fixed,
- like the ships couldn't moor to an empty harbour-space that is in your territory,
- or because of Coin-supply turned on by default there was waste of coins moved to empty military buildings
What is also new, you get goods back from a destroyed building, like food from mines or iron rods from smithies.
You also get notifications that you produced a tool what is very useful - you know when to stop producing them.
The Settlers 10th Anniversary and the Vikings Expansion would be played a lot by Germans, if only the game on GOG would have the translation :/
Qumeneon YES please, this is by far the best Settlers game, but it's very incomplete without the expansion. I'm surprised author hasn't mentioned most important feature of this expansion, and that's the included random map generator (and it works very well!), which gives the game endless replayability. The second campaign is way better than the first one - missions are more challenging, more diverse and there's very beautiful storytelling through multiple fully-dubbed cutscenes during each mission. And once you get used to all the QOL improvements, you just can't go back. I own a physical copy (Czech version) taht I could provide to GOG. It's useless to me since it won't run without the physical disc inserted and my new PC doesn't have optical drive, nor 5,25 slot. So I would 100% love to preserve this gem as a digital copy, for any price!

jjalexander I would instantly buy 10th Anniversary and The Vikings should the Vikings ever be released in English.
DzieX.376 Hi GOG. I got answer, that we have to be patient, but is there any progress of adding this game? I mean, I bought Settlers II Anniversary, and your store became only source to buy and play The Vikings. Game extensions is something much different than standalone games.

The remake as an 10th Anniversary Edition was genius.
All thats missing now is the Addon @GOG.com.
Of possible with german language as well ;) But thats just optional.

It's a great campaign, and the missions are more diverse compared to the original campaign. As mentioned by others, the new features are also very good, especially the one-click to decide where to recruit soldiers, and that gold coins are off by default.
