Talos Principle - Linux version
@H2O2: The Linux native games I have played from GOG all seem to be fairly self-contained packages. I use a fairly obscure distro myself and all the ones I have tried have worked just fine. It's not really any excuse for not releasing a Linux native version of a game that already exists.
I don't have any axe to grind with Windows 7 ;) which I dual boot with Fedora KDE so I can play the odd game that won't run on WINE, and I grabbed The Talos Principle whilst it was on offer which I absolutely do not regret, but I didn't know there was a Linux version until very recently. If you ferret about on-line you will discover that GOG is going through a bit of financial difficulty and I suspect they won't curate anything that will give them extra work just now, bearing in mind that there is still no Galaxy client for Linux and that there are myriad Linux distro's that aren't created equal, so it would be great having the native Linux version of any game, but GOG probably breaks out in a cold sweat thinking about the users of "Flobble Bobble Linux" who are irate because it crashes on their distro !
It’s possible, the Serious Engine has a true Linux compatibility. It’s not just proton that does all the work. So it’s a financial motivation story. I’m going to wait for our version for a purchase. Thank you, Croteam.
As a Linux port exists it is a shame that GOG let it enter without that port. I think that Linux is extremely underrepresented - which should be changed if the want this share to rize and not to vanish.
It one further point to all the problems under Linux with GOG games ...
The same for me: i don't know this game yet. A Linux version would have made me click on 'buy'...
There is native Linux version, why is it not here? Would have been an instant buy for me then.
@PenguinMcSquiggens: there is a thread in the Talos forum about getting it running in Wine: https://www.gog.com/forum/the_talos_principle/does_the_windows_version_work_with_wine. It seems possible to get it running acceptably. However, yes, we absolutely want the native Linux version, seeing as it's already been developed!
Didn't realize the windows version would run so poorly on wine for me. Then I found out there is a native linux version, and GOG just doesn't have it? Overwhelmingly disappointed
Please add it.
GOG is Microsoft bribed, that's why!
I will buy it day one Linux version will be available! not before
It's also worth mentioning that on Steam the Linux port was DAY ONE ( steamdb.info/depot/257513/manifests/ steamdb.info/depot/257511/manifests/ ).
There is really no excuse for ommiting the release here.
No Tux, no bucks! No penguin, no spendin'! ;-)
I don't know the reasons for no Linux version, but yeah it would be a nice addition, to any game.
