Starship Titanic completed
The best Douglas Adams game there is. Still pretty unique in how it does AI. Needs a bit of tweaking to get running on modern systems, which shouldn't be that hard for GOG. The little manuals that came with the original box were all wonderfully in-character and humorous, so I'd love to see those added as extras (plus the soundtrack, of course) if it ever gets released.
I have the original 3CD package of this game, just not been able to get it to work in Windows 7. If GOG would fix the compatibility issues & release it I think it would be worth buying again. In the past I have completed the game a few times & it is still one of my all time favorites.
This was and is one of my all time favorite games. For fans of Douglas Adams and people who have never even heard of him (not sure if those people exist but if they do they need to head to the Restaurant at the End of Universe and ask for a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster). Please bring this game back to life!!!!!
Never got to play this game, but so much wanted to.
Would buy this day one.
Still waiting GOG. If you put this up for sale, I'll be your best friend. I promise.
Douglas Adams was one of the greatest Science Fiction writers, and greatest comedy writers, of all time; so I'm not surprised that so many of the previous comments absolutely rave about this game. I would have wanted to play it anyway (it came out a wee bit before my time) but having read these accounts from people who have actually played the original game I must join them in saying that it NEEDS to be made available. Come on!
Every month or so I check GOG.com to see if they have this game in yet. Its still not in, but I'm not giving up hope!
my favourite game still to this day, i wish i could play it on my gaming pc instead of getting my old computer that takes 10 minutes to boot up. i love this game and i hope that it becomes possible to run on modern systems more easily.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!
I started this game...and never got to finish it.
T.T
help.
I would figuratively give my left kidney to have a copy of Starship Titanic that works on Windows 7 / Windows 8.1. All other votes I've made on the community wishlist are for games that I *want*. This is a game I NEED.
I would certainly buy this game instantly at almost any price. The music, visual, and voice acting are all amazing, and the situations Adams puts you in are clever hilarious. It's been at least 10 years since I've heard any of the music from this game, and I can still hear it perfectly in my mind.
This can be acquired as abandonware in various places, but there are some compatibility issues between the original and XP or later Windows OSs. It's also got a native Mac incarnation. The compatibility issues are easily fixed and so could be built into a GOG package without much trouble. Definitely something GOG should grab if licensing issues don't hold things back! :)
I missed this game when it came out the first time, and haven't been able to find it since. Please grab this one, GOG! It would be a huge win!
This would be fantastic. Such an amazing game with such incredible voice acting from the likes of John Cleese, Terry Jones and Douglas Adams himself.
came here to look for this! I need to finish this game, I never did figure out how to get that succubus thing to take my chicken!!
I'd even pre-purchase this title.
I would be a happy clam if you guys got this!!
I love this game! I've been trying to play this on Windows 7/8.1 but it's just too much hassle. I hope you're able to get the rights for it soon!
With all the rubbish plant/magic/zombie/steam-punk/hidden... indie games around these days can we not have a genuine legend return?
Please try to aquire distribution rights for this somehow...
This game looks amazing. I haven't heard of it before today, when I was clued in to the fact that it exists. Please GOG, make it so, and please fellow GOGgers, let others know of this games existence so we can give it more votes and a better chance of being distributed.
I would be thrilled if this were added to the GOG library. I have no idea who owns the rights to the game but I suspect that since the original website is still active, it's not someone interested in doing much with it. I think even if there were an active market for the physical copies of the game, which there isn't, GOG would jump immediately to the #1 option for purchasing the game if they could get an installer that just worked on XP, Vista and 7. People who already own the game would buy it again just to avoid the hassle of getting it to run themselves.
11/10, would buy again!
We need this game!
GOG is lacking in anything Douglas Adams... So GOG be a good sport and get this game for us :)
Agreed. Even though I've already bought the 3-CD version twice over the years I'd still get it again if it meant an installer that "just works" and will actually install and run on a modern OS without the hassles of tracking down patches, fiddling with Cinepak and manually replacing files, experimenting with different compatibility mode options, etc.
Dear lovely people of GoG,
I voted on this game from my childhood because of all the wonderful memories I have with my father. I remember him sitting me down in his giant, to a then 10 year old, computer chair. Computer on and disk drive open. He hands me the disk motioning me to do the honors. I felt so special to be the one to put in the disk and press the close tray button!
That feeling was nothing compared to the open mouthed stare of awe as the game started and the opening cinematic played. My 10 year old brain sparked with so much intrigue and wander! These are the kinds of memories you bring back to your customers. You, GoG, don't just sell us digital games from the past, you help us relive our most sacred memories, and give us the opportunity to share those treasured moments with the next generation, and beyond. We love you guys!
Never played it, but just saw an old ad for it with the tagline "Not a sequel to anything"... never has such a game been more needed than today.
I woulD lOve to see thIs game, iT needs to be done!
Yes Please.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease??? :D
YES YES YES a thousand times YES! Please GOG bring back Starship Titanic...
I'd love to be able to play this one again ... I'd buy it immediately!
Oh please make this happen GOG, it would mean an instabuy! I remember like ten years ago trying to fiddle with trying to get it running but to no avail. Seeing it running perfectly on a modern machine would be so awesome. And as a Douglas Adams fan, I'm guessing whatever extras we'll find bundled with the game, will be worth the asking price on their own.
Aagh, I want to see this out too! I'd drop money on it for certain. Please if you can create an install for this game that will run.
Please! I really want to play it and I have tried all the patches and downloads and nothing works. I love this game and never got to complete it. Please GOG, give me closure!
It might be difficult though to download the 3D glasses.
beware the succubus - chicken, mustard combo, good times...
I only played this game for a few moments a long time ago, and I really regret not having had the opportunity to finish it. Can we make this happen?
Years and years I have suffered not having this game in my life. Hours upon days I have spent scouring the internet for some way to hack the game onto my Mac, to no avail. Please, please do us all a favor and put Starship Titanic on GOG.
I LOVED this game! I remember turning out the lights and just getting absorbed for hours in trying to find my way around the ship and trying to solve those ridiculously tricky puzzles. I never did finish the game...I think I ended up somewhere in the Engine room...with a Bomb Countdown happening in the background. Priceless!
This needs to go up on GoG - the only place to officially get the game was the shop on the game's official website, which doesn't work any more.
Played a bit of this when I was very young and only knew the English words "banana", "dog", "yes", and "no". I have nothing but fond memories of trying to communicate with the robots and would like to try it again now that my vocabulary has improved somewhat.
I have the novel by Terry Jones but never purchased the game. The experience of playing the demo from way long ago is enough to make this my number one must have game if it came to GOG.
Aside from being hilarious, it's also got some very interesting technical innovations in the AI and text processing. It's still talked about from that point of view. Definitely one to get!
Funniest game I ever played. Would definitely get it.
I love this game so much. I've been trying to get it again for ages, I used to play it when I was little. I don't have a computer that will run it anymore though!
It has a bomb in it that's voiced by John Cleese. If that's not enough to warrent it's inclusion on this site I don't know what is.
Please release it! I love it! I use to play this all the time! I want to download it onto my pc so badly so I can pay it again and again! GOG staff, we're all begging you to release it! We all love it!
I also would love to play this again. The game needs to be updated to work on Windows 7. The graphics were really beautiful and great voice acting.
Best puzzle game ever. John Cleese... Terry Jones... Douglas Adams... Incredible mix! SO FUNNY!
This was a pain to run, even on XP, and I never got to finish it, as it kept crashing when I wasn't far from the end, but I'd love the chance to finish it and have it run correctly on Windows 7. It was clever and funny.
