babrady1 still playing Star general have an original disk and have it in the gog folder...stalls out in the large battle mode at around level six. think i have the 1 update but still crashes anyone with the same issue or a solution?
MartiusR Have hope that with recent People's General release, we're getting closer to the Star General release as well (unless there is some specific issue with rights to that one, hopefully not!)

Zimerius found a working abandonware version fell in love with both the skirmishes and the sort of 4x play... would pay for a remaster of the older 1.1. version... if only they could update the a.i. or hammer some sense into modern day hex space fleet battles war developers
HMC2PA Have Fantasy General on CD and still play it. Would be awesome to be able to play Star General again. Any work on this ?
SimulatedScholar So here I am, almost 8 years later. Pacific General and Fantasy General have been added. The original Panzar General, Allied General, and Star General both are needed for the original 5-star series.
Also, let's get People's General and Panzar General 3 on here too.
JYXYL My brother and I loved playing Star General. Sadly he is no longer with us. Would be awesome to be able to play Star General with my nephews.

Gen_Zedar I have a CD from some other company that brings back old game that will install Star General on my PC and it will play. However, It is not the patched version and is a little buggy. Also, some of the game play and ship stats are off. Like the Lion people Cruiser that can trash any battleship.

Raginmund I own two copies of this game, and lack the expertise to use it on a windows 10 platform, would dearly love to have access to it again. the hot seat ability was great for family fun.

p55carroll I'd always read this was the dud of the series, but I just watched a video clip of it, and it made me want to play. Graphically, it looks better than some others in the series. And apparently it's playable. So, let's give it a try!

Malachai80 Would by it, although I have the CD-Version. Very strategic due ground and space fights, and the fact, that one round in space is several rounds on a planet. Plan your invasions and supplies.
Additionally a great soundtrack, with very spacy and dreamy saxophon tracks. On the CD the game itself was Track 1, and the ingame Music CD-Tracks starting with Track 2.

huscurius This is one of those games I have never gotten to play.
I managed to download a copy of the game but it does not enable 32-bit or 64-bit to run the installer, which is frustrating! This is a game I'd like to play, test out, and see what comes up.
The idea of becoming a Star General, lead your own armadas, build your worlds up, and launch invasion after invasion was what led me to play MOO II (which frankly was too easy of a game sometimes), then GalCiv I which wasted my time trying to tinker with the economic standing of my own empire then getting promptly killed by other aliens...
GOG needs to bring this game into their collection because this is a game we cannot miss!
JavinHawat This game is an overlooked gem. The AI is weak, but other than that, it's wonderfully balanced, addictive "one more turn" game. There's a surprising amount of tactical scope, particularly in the ground combat phase of the game. I miss this game.
ApathyJesus I never got to play this one and I'd love to. I don't care if its considered the worst of the 5-star series.. being called the worst game of one of the best game series of all time isn't exactly a bad thing...

SimulatedScholar I am a fan of the whole 5-Star Series. I know there isn't a big call for war games or turn based strategies any more but PLEASE bring this wonderful series back. Ubisoft (who owns SSI's IPs) tried some Panzer General thing on XBL Arcade a while back and it was nothing like the old games. I know they can be found on abandon-ware sites but Please get Ubisoft to release all of them WITH multiplayer support. I know Star General is considered the worst but I love it. I miss having the music and opening cinematic again as my current abandon-ware copy is missing them.
