SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition completed
WOOOOT!!! :D
there is now I intel mac version of this game on the mac app store.
I actually just picked up a copy from Amazon (digital download) for $5. Maybe it was a sale, but it was my first digital game purchase made outside of GOG. It works fantastic (on a Win7 x64 laptop no less) but it would be even better for SC fans to have it available here too. Heck, I might even buy it again if GOG made it for sale too.
@HiroProtagonest SC4 is 9 years old, so $20 seems a bit much. However, it is now a moot point, since I got the Orgin version for free thanks to the disaster that was SC 2013.
Tweaking for Win7/8? I have the Steam version and it runs just fine "out of the box" on my Win 8 x64 laptop. Yeah, it crashes once in a while, but that's rare. Still, I'd love a DRM-Free GOG release :)
Since this game is available on Origin. already, I doubt EA will have much of an incentive to put it up on GOG:
http://store.origin.com/store/easa/en_IN/pd/productID.198095500
One thing though is that the Origin version can be installed and then played without having to launch the origin client by creating a shortcut.
Also there is a fix for a crash bug that happens on multi-core systems. Create a shortcut with -CPUCount:1 as the command-line argument
So the full path will be:
"C:\Program Files\Origin Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1
The crash occurs because I guess back in 2004 multi-core systems were something of a rarity. The Pentium 4 had just come out at that time.
WHRM3: ...You're seriously complaining about this being $20? I get complaints about DRM, this is a game you play on the plane, but you're complaining that a really good big title game, with DLC included, is $20?
Davidaretbb, because there is no drm
This needs a GOG release, if only for the fact that it requires so much tweaking to run properly under Windows Vista/7/8.
You can get it on Steam for $15.21, now then, why on GOG?
More SimCity goodness is never a bad thing - try to get this on your site GOG.com!
Yes, please get this and the original Sims please!
I want this game GOG, $19.99 USD is a little much (the price on EA's website).
Please! Release this game on GOG!!
