Sanity: Aiken's Artifact
I've had a demo of this game in the back of my head for the longest time not knowing what it was called but I only recently found it by searching for "pc game 2000's black protagonist" on Bing, pretty crazy how obscure this game seems to dig up.
I want this one too.
I was surprised it's not on GOG.
Anyone still trying to find this game, this guy made an easy installer for it:
collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/sanity-aikens-artifact.html
Check out all the other old games there, that are not available on gog.
This game is a gem, and it's sad that it has never been made digitally available.
please get this game
Yes really wish there were a GOG release of this game, it really is so unique and awesome
Hurry up and let us play this game! I'm losing MY.. TOTAL.. SANITY!!!!
You can get the CD copy to work, although it's a pain. You will need dgvoodoo, and while you will need to copy the CD files onto the computer, the game will still only load off the CD. Sadly, this means something like a ryzen 7 2700x w/ a 1070ti and m.2 still has a literal minute or two of shader loading. This game also uses securom, which windows treats as a bad program due to it making security issues, and the game is, oddly, only 16bit exe, which windows ten also fights, hence the requirement of dgvoodoo. Possible? Yes. Annoying? Extreamly. Plus. Once that cd is gone from age... Really wish this was on gog.
Bought the CD version, sadly it doesn't work. We can only dream about a working version for modern systems, I guess.
Would buy!
I would love this!
Honestly, what a unique game, taking so many elements of different genres and making it its own.
Loved this game. would buy in a heartbeat.
Im amazed that this hasn't been added to this site yet. This is a true classic.
This is Cain !
one of my chillhood games. i would like to buy it.
Still check this regularly, really hope it gets here soon!
I mentioned this game to some friends just a few week's ago. This would be a great one to have in my GOG library.
I would buy it!
I still have the CD trying to run it on windows 10 is a pill. I did manage to get it to run so far with a no-cd hack, but I'm still having issues running it.
loved this game. my father played it, so did i. the menu screen music still plays clear as day in my head now. freaking amazing game. please GOG, if your seeing this, can you please make this happen. i bet you that you'll make more than what you put into this easily. many people have forgotten this game, and the moment they see it, they'll be all over it. it will even get some people who've never played the game interested. need this to run on a 64 bit system
I'd buy it! Hell I'd love to see a remake or sequel!
FFS, please make it happen. If I'm not mistaken, the Lithtech engine was brought up to date more or less for the Steam release of Blood II (meaning that it RUNS on Win7+)... PLEASE give us Sanity! :)
A forgotten classic. Although it got good critical reviews, I think a lot of gamers overlooked it because of the rapper Ice-T's involvement, even though he did a great job at voicing the protagonist. His fans were disappointed because his character had little to do with the real man (or how he portrayed himself in real life anyway), and people who didn't like rap avoided the game because of him. I myself almost skipped it for that reason. I'm glad I didn't, and once I got past the initial hesitation of playing a game featuring a "gangster rapper" (which fortunately had nothing to do with gangster rap), I was quite pleasantly surprised with my purchase.
An action-RPG, the game itself was quite good and it had an engaging -if slow-to-start - story. The Lithtech engine provided some impressively colorful level design for the time, and the combat and card-based powers were an interesting change from the usual. Ice-T's involvement will probably make re-licensing the game difficult, but it's worth it; it was sadly overlooked and these days most gamers don't even know it existed. GOG needs to rectify this mistake. ;-)
Yes! Do it!
I second this.
This is one of those games whose CDs I forever regret losing. Really unique, and had an incredible sense of style, as well. Ice-T voiced the main character!
One of my childhood period games.
I would love to play it again. I have the disc but it just sits there useless unless I manage to get a computer with dualboot or something.
Make it happen, Captain!
Hell yes! This is such a great game! Make it happen GOG!
Two words, fuck yes!!
this game was incredible - would love to play it again
Would buy Instantly - had a disk but it broke while moving to different place : ((((
I would be glad to see it on GOG, I can't get it anywhere and it looks exciting.
Wanna this :(
@ShadowWulfe I suspect it's because not that many know about it. I still remember the trailer. Believe it or not, the music is still stuck in my head. Love it.
Pretty, pretty please. After each play-through, your character retains the upgrades... You really do become powerful. And not in the silly Jade-empire way, where your power-used is something like a percentage: bleh!
This would be a real good game to be on here, had a lot to discover and interesting character an dare I say it.... a unique plot? An heck a version on here would be better optimized for modern PC's an have quick access to the extra power downloads.
I remember picking this up from HMV for 99p many years ago! I liked the variety of powers, and the occasional humour while playing the game. I'd love to see this on GOG!
Let's get this here!
How does this not have more wishes!?
one of my favorite games of all times, would really love to see this on gog.com
I remember browsing through screenshots of this game at the Monolith website in the early 2000s. Aaah... good old days
