Pool of Radiance completed
WTF means completed?
Its still not in the gog shop.
One of the games ever. I´ve played it in 2003.
I will love it, so do i.
Having all the extra written books that are required to play these games compiled in a nice easy to get place, with dosbox preset up would be greatly appreciated by this lazy gamer. I'd show that appreciation by throwing money at you GoG.
I never played these, but I would like to do so now. Please bring these to gog.com
Would love to see all SSI D&D games. I would buy them all.
At one time or another I've owned and played (in some cases, multiple times) ALL of the SSI gold box games. Making them available on GOG is a guaranteed purchase from me :)
The SSI AD&D and Buck Rogers series launched RPG games out of the text only era. How can it be that these games still remain off the GOG roster? I will pay for these if you add them to the GOG library and I'll actively promote them to friends that haven't experienced them yet.
We the success of retro crpg´s via kickstarter in 2014 (wasteland2, divinity etc.) you should consider this wish :-) sincerly Andrew
Just do it already!
Please release this either alone version or as a gold box game version (Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and Pools of Darkness. Would also love to see the Dragonlance games that were gold box "Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krinn, and The Dark Queen of Krynn. As well as the Savage Frontier series " Gateway to the Savage Frontier and Treasures of the Savage Frontier" as well as a few standalones such as "Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures". These were all GOG claasics and deserve to be on GOG and I for one would buy them so I could play them again!! (I just can't get dosbox to work for me). Thank you very much!!
I want the whole original series; so I can upload my characters (Like they did with Wizardry). I have them on disk but I am not tech savvy and I can only load the first of games and save it! My friend gave them to me about three years ago.I never got to play this one much but I fell in love with the game and have been very sad I could not play past the first game! Please GOG get this series!
Still no PoR on here? Assumed they would have an SSI AD&D Gold Box collection. Still waiting...
Waiting!!!
I hope you all mean the original - because "Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor" has all sorts of bugs and could mess up your windows I hear. I had a copy, I walked right into a bug a few steps in and couldn't play.
I just came here looking to buy the game. Guess it's not here. Ah well...
Bring this back! Then work down the SSI line from that era. Wizards Crown, Phantasie, etc... They would make great low-end additions. (Referencing the c64 versions from memory.)
I did not play this one, but i played champions of krynn and buck rogers. It would be really great to see these games re-released here.
Thank You
Reading the book based on the game at the moment, was a little too young to get into it when the original game was released... this would be an awesome addition (amazing free game... hint!)
I would be this game the moment it came out. I wish there were more current games as good as this was. Fantastic dungeon crawling and quests.
Dezikim, do you recall if it was a specific version that you had such a poor experience with? As for myself and my friends and the time, we all got the DOS version when it came out and didn't have any issues with it.
I had played the DOS, NES, and Apple versions. I agree with Sengruber - the NES version was greatly over-simplified and not worth the effort. In my opinion the DOS version gave the greatest challenge and best gameplay.
I think requesting this game has got to be a case of "rose-colored glasses" and time and fondness and all that, because I recall, when it released, it was such a spectacular failure on so many levels that it's practically a terror tale of launches for any company.
Just make sure we can uninstall if without it formatting our hard drives ;D
I'll second, countrybluesgtr on this.
GOG, if you released a package of all the Goldbox games, I am sure it would be a bestseller. Everyone here knows how important these games were -- and how nothing today can touch them. Please release them (as well as The Wizard's Crown!).
I would buy these the second they were released!!
What's the hold up?
Pleeeease, GOG, come on.
Give us all the good old SSI games back, beginning with the gold box and ending wiht every other game from SSI.
I pomise to buy them all, without waiting for any special deal or offer.
Just buy the rights and start to release them.
Just do, and i will start to throw my money toward you!
I would absolutely love to buy a collection of all the gold box SSI games. That would be absolutely amazing.
I'll never forget coming home with that gold box and tearing into it immediately. Loved every moment of those games! Would give anything to relive some of those memories. Please GOG! Come through on this one!
I would immediately buy any gold box game I found on GOG.
Remember the note in phlan
" skullcrusher was here " or something like that.
Well my internet name everywhere since then , maybe 20 years ago ( before the internet even, haha )has been skullcrusher.
It was taken on GoG :(
O and the troll part where you had no map to guide you, fond memories.
25 years since released. Clearly it's time to get it on GOG. Phlan needs our protection!
I'd really like to see the old SSI Gold Box AD&D games - A lot of fond memories there. Frankly surprised they haven't been added yet.
The SSI Gold Box Games series of games were the BEST CRPG's that ever came out for D&D. Wizards Crown, Phantasie, Fantasy General... they were the best games of that generation.
Please release this and the other SSI rpgs from that era! I'd buy it at once!
Please release this game. It was the first i voted. Its a must have!!!!!
They could simply add that Forgotten Realms re-release version from CD (or the WizWorx version that included the Dragonlance games) that came out in 2000ish, which had the huge tome of Journal Entries and the code wheels. Unfortunately you really would need the code wheel information, especially to solve some of the puzzles within the games.
Over 3000 peeps voted, how many are needed for them to say "Hey, we should carry that?"
This is an absolute must have on GOG! I'm surprised so few realize how good it was. I would love to see all of the Gold Box Games on here, eventually.
crpgaddict.blogspot.com/2011/05/game-57-pool-of-radiance-1988.html
plz release this! :)
... a must have on GOG!!
Like so many others, this was my introduction to computer RPGs back in the day. Had this plus 2 of the follow-ups (Curse of the Azure Bonds and Secret of the Silver Blades) but never got the chance to finish them and would love to buy and play them again. Sadly, the manuals and code wheels are long gone, but I'm sure there are still some out there. Here's to hoping the old Gold Box games make a comeback on GOG.
This game came with sight differences in the versions made for multiple systems. I've played it on the Apple II, NES and DOS and the Apple version was the smoothest to play with the most complete implementation of the ruleset. The NES version was drastically oversimplified and it's been years since I played the DOS version, but IIRC it was more like the apple version but had some differences I can't remember in the interface and an obnoxious non-muteable motherboard based sound effect that played each time you took a step.
If you guys could somehow wrangle the manuals together for these titles, making them run in DOSBox is a snap.
Im waiting for this game. The box game doesnt work in windows 7 and new graphhics cards...
The SSI gold box series is what got me into both gaming and D&D with a passion. I still have the old games I had on the Amiga, although nothing to play them on anymore. Would love to see the whole series return here. I should still have my reams of lovingly crafted, grid-paper drawn annotated maps as well :P
I had just about all of the gold box games at one time or another, but this was my ablolute favorite. I think it will always be in my memory wandering the town, trying to map everything out. It would be great to play it again.
The game that started my love affair with CRPGS on the PC... Sure I played Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior as a kid on NES, but the PC DnD games of the late 80's early 90's blew them away in depth, strategy and immersion. I loved them so. The mix of first person dungeon/town exploration with isometric srpg style battling was great. Everything was immersed with the adventure journal fleshing out areas and back story. The fact that you could change each of your party's appearance was amazing and unheard of at the time. The gold box series was the pinnacle of CRPGs for so long! It wasn't until the bioware infinity engine arrived that it was topped. They tried it again with nwn series, but the focus on multiplayer over single player kinda ruined it. Frankly, I am surprised that non of the SSI library is on GOG.. It would make sense to add them!
