Planescape Torment Original, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 Complete, Icewind Dale Complete. To return to GoG completed
Yes. It should be possible to purchase the originals separately on GOG. They should not be held hostage behind Beamdog's paywall.
Please add the original Black Isle versions games. I much prefer them over the Beamdog "Enhanced" versions. I appreciate that currently Icewind Dale II is available like this, but I would really like if the others in the set were available too. I could see myself paying like... $20 for each one, which is more than the Beamdog versions sell for. That's how much I want this! Thanks for considering.
Yes please bring back the originals versions !
We need the old version of these great games. I tried the Beamdog version and I would rather play the old versions.
I would very much like this. :) I do not begrudge Beamdog selling its Enhanced versions here on GoG, far from it. They HAVE put in time and effort into adapting these games for modern systems, as well as including their own custom content. Whether or not people like these changes is up to the individual player. (And indeed, I've heard both good and bad things about the changes.)
What I DO want is for GoG to give us, the consumers, the choice between the classic versions or the "remakes". Allow us to decide on our own terms which is worth our money. Isn't that after all what GoG was founded to do? To allow us to experience again the classics from our youth?
Just so people are aware, the originals are bundled with the enhanced versions. However the prices are obviously much higher than the originals by themselves.
I'm not very keen on Beamdog's "Enhanced" versions. I much preferred the originals myself.
So glad I got these games before BeamDog got their parasitic hands on them.
There's a wonderful world of mods for all of these games, made just for the originals. Others should be able to discover these as well.
I see no reason to pay *double* the price for a game with only extremely minor changes (And the changes that are there are... not good...) just because Beamdog decided I should. The Enhanced Editions should have competition from the originals, so people have a choice in wanting to support the original, or the "Enhanced" edition. The soundtrack being separate is another dick, and very greedy, move.
Beamdog's business practices are exactly the reason I chose to use GOG in the first place. Sure I still have access to these original titles, but to deny PC purists who would prefer to play the original unmolested versions should be a crime.
yes, this must happen, stop this insane behavior of removing the games!!! these money grabbing terrible "new" editions is a shame for the games and should never have been made, and to also remove the old just makes it so much worse, bring them back please!
Yes. Yes. Yes. Cannot support this enough.
I hear the new Planescape EE isn't terrible, but I still say it's too little too late for Beamdog. They fouled the bed big time with the Baldur's Gate EE series (as well as the way they handled criticism/complaints/dissent), and just spraying the whole mess with Febreeze isn't nearly enough.
These classic games stood tall upon their own merits for a good 15 years before all this. If Beamdog had any real confidence in their own product, they wouldn't have made the classics impossible to get *apart* from their own version (or from "sharing"); this policy is still lousy.
There is an importance to choosing which publishers and retailers you wish to support. Packaging the originals only with enhanced editions both increases the cost to the customer, and removes their ability to obtain these games through GOG without supporting Beamdog.
I can't understand those people who link Amazon links here, or says that the originals still here because is bundled with the Sh1t Edition. Damm, people doesn't understand that we just want the original games, that once are sold here, back to the market so new people who don't want to give money do CrapDog can just play the originals (without going on illegal sources to obtain those game); so we can review the "EE" separeted from the original?
I can't believe is GOG fault, this move is more-likely from Hasbro.
Rule 1. One title only - don’t mention series, expansions or packs
Beamdog's "Enhanced Editions" are the Star Wars Special Editions of gaming. No one really wants their "additions", but newbies aren't given a choice otherwise.
Just to add to how Beamdog is treating the players: I've send them a request to have these games unbundled and they replied that it's GOG, who is responsible for the bundling and they have nothing to do with it. What a coincidence that the bundling happened just as Siege of Dragonfail was released and the following backlash took place.

@Casval_Deikun: I can only guess that you're trying to say that the originals/classics are still on GOG and don't understand this wish. Yes, the classics come with the EEs, but you can't buy JUST the classics. I and others would like the store pages back with the lower price and reviews of the classics. Some of us don't like Beamdog's attitude toward customers in the past. Some of us don't like the EEs. Some of us... any or all of the above. Personally, I'm not against creating enhanced versions of these games. However, in BG1 especially, gameplay and content has been changed significantly, and, to be honest, not to my liking. Also, I've been reading around (and doubting to get the EE versions) since 2014, but I have decided not to. My original games run fine, using some mods.
I've owned the originals on disc since their dates of release, but I've given those away when I replaced them with (well-backupped) GOG.com versions, and they've been working wonderfully for me (using some mods and/or fixes where needed).
There's a plethora of information to be found on the internet, on how to mod the original games and how to get them to run on any Windows version since Windows XP. I'm now running BG1 and IWD1 on Windows 10.1703, and I'm sure I'll be able to get BG2, IWD2, and PS:T to run as well.
I'm of the opinion that, if people wish to experience the original, classic versions of these games, including all of their flaws and weaknesses, they should be able to without having to buy the enhanced editions alongside them.
Therefore I vote to have the originals returned to GOG.com.
