Outpost
I doubt we will ever see this game on GoG, but I upvoted it anyway. Why? Redbook CD-Audio. The music came from the CD, not a compressed file. Getting that to work from an emulation standpoint is pretty hard. You will likely never see any games from GoG that used redbook audio due to this reason.
So we have outpost 2! So why not dream about the first Outpost for the complete experience.
So the outpost 2 is great but for complete the collection give us the first game too GOG please
i loved this game back in the day i keep thinking back to this and think man i would love to be able to play it again
I had both Outpost and Outpost 2: Divided Destiny. They where both RTS that required you to pay attention when in the game. I still have both game discs but they will not install under Windows 7 or 10. I had tried XP before. They installed but did not want to run. I found Outpost 2 here on GOG but no sign of the prequel except here in wishlisted games. I had hopes that it, like with Elder Scrolls 3, might have been included with Outpost 2 but no information shows that. So.. RE-Request!!! Please bring the original Outpost game to GOG with the updated PC system features that will allow it to run under Windows newer OSs and on the common wide screen monitors!?!?!?!?!
As I recall, Outpost was very ambitious and, due to various problems, difficult to play but I believe I managed to make it through to the end... I think. I would really like to give it another try.
Would love to be able to play this game again. Played it all the time as a kid, even if all the scientific stuff flew right over my head. Hope there's still a chance for this one!
I have a sneaky suspicion the original code for this game has long been lost, which might be why we haven't seen a copy as of yet.
I had this game a long time ago. Great game and I really miss it. You have the second one, but the first was great. 10/10 would buy if it came out.
I think that most of my time back then was spent between this game and the Tie Fighter, X-Wing, and Tie Fighter vs X-Wing games on our old PC. I recently found my CD for this when I was looking for something else, but alas, i don't have a windows XP machine, let alone a x86 machine in the whole of my house...
Please, oh Please, GoG, bring this game to us on GoG. It has communities of people making it work in DOSBox all over the interwebs, but one official place would be awesome1
Still waiting
I'm still hoping this game will come around in a Win 7+ compatible version some day. I would most certainly buy it.
Still hoping I really want this one.
My first space sim love! Please make it happen!
OUTPOST!
Come on guys we need Outpost
i need this game, sorry i must have this game
This was one of the first CD-Rom game that i owned. Still today, haven't played a strategy game that captivated as it had.
Love this game
Still waiting for this game so pls GOG release it!
I could currently only get this game to run by emulating a windows 3.1 on my system. But since a virus took that hard drive out, thats no longer an option. Would love to see this game on GOG.
I was thinking of this game for the last week and hope GOG hasn't forgotten about this or could post an update as to why it's not here yet. Probably legal stuff as posted below but really would like to play this again.
GOG really ought to get bot Outpost & Outpost 2 in their catalogue.
It is probably due to publisher or rights owner problem or attitude that is is not already here .
This game was a beast of real space issues from NASA. There was the space plague you could get. One in ten chance you found it. One in ten games had an insta kill unless you researched the cure fast. Really fast. I learned to focus on solving game killers first. One research health then air and resources in as many labs as you can. Only take planets you can go down less then four but more then one deep. Thus you made all your geo thermal power and avoided the surface with meteor showers. And blow up diggers and robots to clear impassable land as well as keep your factories chugging. Why replace batteries when one kaboom kept your subterranean shopping mall and labs chugging. Because once people left hard jobs they refused to go back even if it is working at the oxygen scrubbers. Also the nature of any commercial building becoming a red light district permanently due to crime was hilarious. Your population grew faster the worse the crime. So law and order would win you the competition with the rival base but your people stooped making babies. At first you had 7 kids per family after 100 turns almost 2 if your are good. Thus red light districts at the unstable beginning were amazing. But you could lose everyone. Such a great balancing game. Also heaven forbid you do not empty your warehouses to hold all the ingredients to your oxygen scrubbers. I had a super productive mine set once that tried to kill me by filling my warehouse with garbage. So I always was building new warehouses to keep places for that one ingredient. Forged growth or a warehouse utopia all to let them breath. Classic but in short the game was great. You landed and hoped the good mine or as many as possible on your map.
I loved this game, haven't gotten to play it in years (won't run on 64-bit systems). I still have my old CD copy, and even my hard copy of Outpost 2, though it wasn't as good... It'd be great if this title could find its way here.
I liked the idea, the concept of an Outpost 2 game but what they made was horrendous. Anyone besides me agree?
Outpost was patched to a playable state and rereleased as Outpost 1.5. That was the version I found the bargain bin years later. It may be just nostalgia, but I remember having some fun with the game.
I was talking to my brother about this game, We used to spend hours on it and the graphics for the time was amazing love to play it again.
This game was miserably buggy, occasionally totally unfair, and ate hours of my life in high school. I'd love to see it brought back!
Outpost was, and still is, my most beloved childhood game, still a CD copy of it too, can't run to save my life though (32 game on a 64 OS).
I liked it, although features even noted in the manual were not implemented (like roads).
Spend hours on it and sold it to a friend a lot of years ago. Would buy it again ;)
One of my favorite games from the 90's.
I really liked to play Outpost in former times. I would love to see it beeing released again by GOG.
Outpost was one of the first computer games I ever owned, with Theme Park.
I would buy it in a second if it showed up here
I tried downloading this game on my win7 64bit but wont work. so far iv only managed to fine install instructions for xp or vista. iv been waiting for months for GOG to do this game but they still haven't. can anyone help me out with getting this thing to work?
If anyone is looking for an outpost fix, there is what appears to be an Outpost clone on Kickstarter

I liked and hated this game a lot :)
Unfortunately it was very buggy and had a lot of unfinished features.
I also bought Outpost 2 in those days, but was very disapointed, cause they switched to RTS. Totally ruined the game for me :(
If one day anyone makes a (good) Remake of Outpost 1 (turn based) I certainly will give it a try.
If interested in the original version, You will find it via goolge ;)
It's playable on modern windows-systems (last try on Vista)
The only reason people wouldn't have been able to play this game properly is them not having the quite meager system requirements. This game ran flawlessly on my 486dx33.
I loved this game when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I have the Mac version, and I haven't had a Mac since the mid 90s. I'd love to have a PC version of the game.
I loved this game & played it all the time when I was young. Unfortunately I missed out on getting the Planet Expansion Pack that was available at the time. I can't remember if this worked in DOS or Windows but if works in DOS I might just pull out my old disks & use DOSbox...
I'd love to see this on GOG, or even better, a re-released version with some improvements (larger viewing area for one)
I loved this game as a child. "Any mistake at this point will doom you and your colonists to certain death, have a nice day."
this was a great game! unfortunate that a remake has not already been completed... or even anything similar
Base game was good. Hopefully GOG will produce an updated and improved version.
This game was fantastic, and exceeds the quality of it's sequel by leaps and bounds.
This game was based on massive amounts of data that came from NASA and really needs an advanced processor plus loads of memory to run well. Unfortunately, the publishers never bothered to update the game for the later versions of Windows and the processors that would really make it shine. In my opinion, this is the ULTIMATE strategy/exploration game of all that were ever made. No game is perfect--for those detractors below--but this game had a lot going for it and would have been even better if run on the right system and architecture.
.. it worked and played fine for me all those years ago.
I want it.. :)
It was a fun game to play on my old Mac.
