Bearhug_at I know the games are out there as shareware even they are castrated with those amazing videos sequences. As more I would love to see this game being involved into GOG's library for the sake of game history complete with videos and hopefully (maybe in Galaxy 2.0+) with a mod section were fans can vote and/or add mods for classic like those as just those two games had a fantastic collection of fan mods.
Jarmo I'll pay to be able to pay MC2 with videos and without a hassle.
Tried the free dowload stuff, but couldn't get it working in WIn10, and wouldnt include the videos anyway.
DarkSimplexity Hoped to play a little bit of Mechcommander 1/2 until HBS Battletech is finally arrinving, but it is not not available on GOG. And without your appreciated magic it seems not to run under Win10 :-). All the tips from the internet didn't help :-(.
danhanegan Note that MechCommander 1 has a mech construction system very much in line with the actual Battletech games. In MechCommander 2 the construction rules are changed to a unique grid based system quite different from FASA Battletech. It's not bad, and the two games play very similarly once the mechs are built, but die hard Battletech fans may find MechCommander 1 more familiar.
lassicthechosen Would love to see these as well. One of the few RTS games that I loved. You can beat the scenarios without having to follow a scripted path to success.

Hicksalpha yeah the mech coms wont work on windows 7 8 or 10 without patching, compatability mode, or at all.
Darktoad When I last tried installing the freeware (on Windows 7) a few years ago it would not play so it is worth GOG re-releasing the game to make it playable on WIndows 10.
Speeder MechCommander 2 (not 1) had its source released, but it barely works on modern machines.

the current download websites aren't really working though. you will have to find a torrent, or search vaguely illegal ISO dump websites.
dick1982 what BrandeX said. MS pretty much gave it away for free. and it works fine on most modern machines unlike MW 2 & 3. i want to downvote this!

Adarion I thought the games fell into Microsoft's hands but Mech Commander is a must play for every BattleTech fan and for me, who does prefer turn based over RTS, one of the best RTS games.

GraalOtonami These games were released as freeware by Microsoft and yet they require a virtual machine to run on W8/10.
Repackaging them with patches would mean more players would be able to experience this master of a game.

Jarmo While both are available as free downloads, at least MC2 download doesn't include the videos. I wan't a complete package with all the stuff and goodies.
(Both games do run on win8 64bit as is)

knight5946 oh one more thing, they NEED to make sure they have the MadCat file included in MechCommander 1. when i originally had this game working there was a downloadable file that allowed u to use a MadCat mech straight from Mission 1 Op 1. the back story for that file was that Harrison's team in the intro when they took down that mad cat they couldnt repair the damage to it in time for them to use it so it was sent to u for repairs and u could deploy it. GOG MUST include this file in the game
knight5946 i love these games and i still have copies of them both, but MechCommander1 doesnt like 64 bit OS systems so i cant play it on my Vista system. GOG getting a version of this game out would be such a KILLER!!!! i always did love fighting in the Clan Wars, and using their hardware against them
