Loom (FM Towns, CD and Floppy versions)

Baggins This is a game where having both cd and floppy versions is worth it.
CD adds speech, but loses much of the games writing and dialogue.
The floppy version has extra scenes, and closeups, adding up to a longer story.
So both are worth owning.
Having a copy of the FM towns version also adds cd quality music but with the extended story of the floppy version.
In addition having a copy of the audio drama that came with early copies would be nice to have as well.
suunrah OOM was one of the last great EGA adventure games, so it
is sad, that a site like GOG, that tries to keep good old games
alive, wont include the ORIGINAL EGA version (far superior in
every way).

Dylldophlo Please add the EGA version, it is the original and is a work of Art as far as EGA capabilities are concerned.
Please do not forget the different language versions (French, German, ...).

MattmanOmega01 As someone who owns the EGA floppy and VGA CD editions, I'd love to see the FM-Towns CD here on GOG (along with the EGA version).
ryanxj9000 Yes. Please add the EGA version to owners of the current version if possible, or entirely new separate EGA version, or at least give us some info about it being a licensing issue. Anyways I believe it can be found free on an abandonware emu site and played thru ScummVM for those who can't wait for a response from GOG.
Tsomi Brian Moriarty himself suggests playing the EGA version. Zak McKracken has both the EGA and VGA versions on GOG, being able to do the same for Loom would be so nice. Thanks.

augh What about a collector's edition where we have all the different versions: Amiga, Atari ST, CDTV, Dos, FM Towns, Linux, Macintosh, TurboGrafx CD, and Windows? Then we can pick whichever version we want, or play all of them. www.mobygames.com/game/loom/screenshots

FiatLux I am happy that we got the "talkie" version of Loom but I agree that we of course should have the other versions as extra for free when buying the game so I voted for it :)
Skabooga Yeah, I didn't realize that a VGA version had been released after the original EGA version, so I was surprised to hear voice acting that I didn't remember, and dismayed when I realized that I couldn't turn it off. I would love for a copy of the EGA version to be available, I do prefer its audio and visual style.
PraetorianWolfie Adding another voice in favor of the FMTowns or EGA version (hopefully both). They are great and the definitive versions of the LOOM story.
The CD Talkie has the voiceover, but not all dialogues are there, some of the story is changed(!) and some new animations (hands) are awful.
Also, GOG, include the audio drama that was in the game's box, please!!!

Baggins Thanks Gog for getting us the CD-Romm version. But we'd still like to have the FM-Towns version for the complete 'story', without the edited out parts.

Baggins Also the CD and FM Towns version are in 256-color vga. The floppy is 16-color vga.
Hence for the best experience with all story intact, the FM towns would be best option.
Although the CD version is still fun for its voice overs, even if the story is reduced.
